Simba is a little lion king in training!🦁 This adorable kitten came into Pet Western Animal Hospital today and showed us he’s a natural in front of the camera📸✨ Simba’s mom told us that he is very photogenic at home too, always ready to pose! Thank you, Jessica Darden, for letting us care for this sweet little boy! 🧡

Start the new year off on the right paw!🐾 January is the perfect time to work on training your dog, whether it’s teaching basic commands, reinforcing good habits, or learning fun new tricks. Training not only strengthens the bond between you and your furry friend but also helps to keep them happy, healthy, and entertained.

💡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝:
✔️ Keep sessions short
✔️ Maintain a positive attitude
✔️ Use plenty of treats, toys, and praise as rewards.
✔️ Be patient—progress takes time!

As temperatures drop and snow blankets Mineral Wells and surrounding areas, it’s crucial to remember that our pets feel the cold just like we do! Ensure your furry friends have a warm space to stay cozy.

Here are some helpful info to keep your pet(s) happy and safe:

𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬:

❄️ 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 — Limit outdoor time to 𝟏𝟎-𝟏𝟓 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 when temperatures fall below freezing

❄️ 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐬 — They may tolerate the cold slightly better but should still be limited to 𝟑𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 in freezing conditions. (Remember: They aren’t used to this weather as it doesn’t happen often here!)

𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲:

❄️ 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 — Shorten walks and avoid prolonged exposure during extreme cold.

❄️ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫 — If pets must be outside, make sure they have access to warm, insulated shelter away from wind and moisture.

❄️ 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 — Shivering, anxiety, slowing down, or looking for warm places to burrow are indicators your pet needs to warm up.

❄️ 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 — Short-haired breeds may benefit from a sweater or jacket during walks.
