Project horse ready to be finished off. Jesse is an 8yr old grade mare, standing at 14.3hh, who came to us pregnant, completely untouched and fearful of humans. She has learned to trust and enjoy human interactions. After her filly was weaned we continued her training on to saddling, bridling and long lines. She has now been sat on a handful of times and is progressing well. Her training will continue but if anyone is looking for a project horse to finish off their way she’s an open book and can go in any direction with no limitations or maintenance. She is currently offered at low four figures starting with a 1. Located in Louisa, Virginia. Feel free to PM or call/text (540)308-9248.

Summer Camp Day 5: Finale….These campers knew how to end the week right!! We decided to end our week of horsing around with a showcase for the parents with each riders abilities and what they’ve been learning. The kids practiced their skills in the morning and all of their families came out early in the afternoon to watch as each rider demonstrated what they can do!!! Each camper took pride in getting their horses cleaned up and ready to show off!!! They also decorated beautiful frames to hold the pictures of them with their favorite horse from Heart to Heart Ranch!!! Great job this week Campers!!!!!

Summer Camp Day 4: Campers had much cooler weather today with overcast skies and a wonderful breeze!!! We took a trail ride up to see the new therapeutic barn that is being built. The campers also made some yummy horse treats for the horses to enjoy tomorrow. There was an afternoon rain shower, but that didn’t slow us down. Everyone spent the afternoon getting their favorite horse cleaned up and ready for the campers photo shoot, pics will be revealed tomorrow….stay tuned!!

Summer Camp Day 3: Speed was the word of the day. Campers worked on controlling not only their mounts direction using primarily seat and leg but also the speed in which their horses were going just by their seat and leg. Afterwards, the campers slowed it down completing their friendship shirts and enjoyed a cool lunch under the fans. After lunch, it was time to rev it back up for a Parts of the Saddle and Bridle relay race!!

Summer Camp Day 2: Today was a hot one but these campers did a great job staying cool. We decided today would be a great pool day. We had a fun morning riding first thing and campers working through new patterns using their seat and legs to communicate directions to their horses. Campers also had fun making their cool craft, tye dye bandannas. After everyone was all cleaned up and we turned out the cooled down horses, it was pool time. Everyone had a fun afternoon at the pool!!

Summer Camp Day 5: Hard to believe our first week of summer camp has come to an end! Campers had the opportunity to swap camp horses with their fellow campers and swap tack too! They had a fun ride in the morning and stayed cool after lunch finishing up their intricate craft of horseshoe dreamcatchers. Teamwork and friendships grew over the past week and we look forward to our next camp at the ranch July 15-19!!

Summer Camp Day 3: camp is all about trying new experiences and making new friends! These campers are doing just that. Some are trying different disciplines but all are having fun creating new friendships during different activities. Today, campers learned the importance of maintaining their equipment through cleaning and checking for wear and tear. But then it was time for some cool fun and finished off the day with a fun craft!!

This is a great bunch of information for this time of year!!! This week has especially been hot!! At the ranch, we focus lessons in early morning and late evening (as weather permits) and summer camps engage with horses during the coolest times during the day or else we do laid back games with our equine partners.

Summer camp Day 2!! Today we had fun riding but also learned parts of the horse and basic first aid. Campers groomed their horse’s meticulously and checked them over for any blemishes, wounds or large injuries. Every camp horse was cleared with only a tiny scrape or bug bite here and there. They decorated tote bags to keep all their weeks worth of crafts in…. and what’s summer camp without some silly games!!!

We had a great first day of summer camp!! Great group of campers on a warm, breezy day!!

Hey everybody, we have several project horses at the farm that are ready to begin taking their next steps from groundwork to riding. We have decided to create a “dummy rider“ to help us in the process. I wanted to reach out to all of our community and see if anybody has any of the following items they are willing to donate before sending it to Goodwill or into the trash. Here’s what we are looking for: men’s coveralls, (2) boat bumpers, (2) pool noodles, pair of cowboy boots. Worn out condition is fine! Thanks

Jesse is being offered as a training project. She is a 8yr old grade mare who sticks around 14.3hh. Jesse is a foster from Central Virginia Horse Rescue. Jesse came to our training program very untrusting, and very pregnant! We started simple ground work with her during her pregnancy, building her trust again. She had a beautiful filly last May but also some serious birthing complications. She came through it thanks to the diligence of our veterinarian and volunteers who treated her daily, all the while continuing to build trust, even through the scary venture. Once weaned, Jesse’s training has progressed immensely. Currently, she has been saddled, sat on a handful of times, work through desensitization games and started ground driving on longlines. Jesse can be timid and shut down if pushed too hard or harshly. Jesse is looking for her person (or person with experienced trainer) to continue her training and help her grow into the ultimate riding partner! She has no limitations and can go in any direction. Currently her fee is $1800, this will increase as her training continues. Located in Louisa, Va. If interested, please PM or contact Jennifer @ (540)308-9248
