Hey friends! It’s THIS SATURDAY!!! Peter and I have been behind the scenes in helping to plan for a Spring Cleaning Party! for our friends at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue so that the Red Lake Animal Wellness Center might take the next step towards the MAJOR contribution of opening their doors to the Red Lake community! 🐾❣️

Come and help us do some outdoor raking and indoor cleaning at the upcoming Red Lake Animal Wellness Center! The space is currently under the final stages of construction. We need your help of your hands and hearts to make it sparkle! 💖✨

Bring a POTLUCK dish to share if you can, but we will be thankful even just for your encouragement and muscles too! Karen Good of RLRR has helped to rescue over 15,000 animals since 2006. The Red Lake Animal Wellness Center will help to keep the dogs and cats of Red Lake happy and healthy.

Your help, presence and encouragement is needed! See you this Saturday in Redby (in the red building across from the Redby Community Church). 10am-3pm!

I’m taking a short break from my social media hibernation to let you know that…. YOU’RE INVITED!!! My husband, Peter, and I, along with Karen Good (founder/director of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue) are planning a great day of community and connection as we do a little (or a lot!) of SPRING CLEANING at the new Animal Wellness Center that is being built in Redby, MN!

Bring a potluck dish to share if you can or just show up to work and have some fun! 10am to 3pm, Saturday May 21st!

Since 2006, Red Lake Rosie’s has rescued over 15,000 pets in the Red Lake Area! As a pet portrait artist, animal lover and rescuer, I have supported RLRR’s work since the beginning years. And now? Red Lake Rosie’s is expanding their efforts on the Red Lake Reservation by preparing to offer veterinary and wellness services to their community!

The Red Lake Animal Wellness Center is currently under construction, but well on it’s way to opening its doors to the public! We need help cleaning up both inside and outside! Let’s help her doors and windows to SHINE! ✨

I’ve been hiding out all winter in the forests of Minnesota and loving every minute of it…but on May 21st I really, really, REALLY hope to see you for a dose of goodness, fun AND for a good cause!

The Red Lake Animal Wellness Center is a red building located right across the street from the Redby Community Church. Park on the street since we will be cleaning the area in front.

I just put Jack on a calendar to celebrate someone special’s birthday (can’t say who because it’s a surprise)! I think it’s safe to say that this is one of the coolest fundraisers I’ve ever been a part of!

Whether you want to put your dog’s face on a 2022 calendar or enter them in a photo contest (because you KNOW your dog is the BEST IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!) or simply get a super cool calendar for next year(!)...it all goes to help others in need!

A couple weeks ago I posted a video of some of the atrocities currently happening in the conflict zones of Ethiopia, where my husband is currently working. It’s hard stuff to watch and several people asked: WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?

I thought about that question for a good long time. In a lot of ways, I don’t know what the answer is. But I DO know that wherever you are in the world, there are people around you who ARE in need. Yes, even in America too.

Lon Hodge is one of my dearest friends and also the founder of Operation Fetch. He works a lot like I do, in heartfelt RESPONSE to the situations that life leads him into.

Whether doing Planned Acts of Community Kindness (which even I have been the recipient of when they placed flowers on my belated and beloved Carl Bratlien’s grave this past Memorial Day because I couldn’t be there to do it myself! Wow, huh? 💗), support for trauma survivors, PTSD and su***de prevention, reaching out to homeless veterans and others in need, helping to reunite soldiers and their ward battle buddies...AND SO MUCH MORE!!!

We can’t save the whole world, but we surely can make an impact in both big and small ways. Doing something fun for you and your dog will help Lon and everyone at Operation Fetch to do more of what they do.

Ok, ya’ll....I am GENUINELY in awe of the generosity of some really amazing-hearted people in this world, including my famously-dog-loving-friend (literally, famous for how well he loves dogs 😊), Andy Mathis of Granite Hills Animal Care. Andy and his friends have taken it upon themselves to fundraise for much needed tick medicine for our beloved stray dogs here in Uganda, Africa!

We’re hoping to fill up a suit case with both topical and oral tick medicine. You guys...if you only knew what a blessing that would be. How many strays we’ve loved and lost and more than we continue to love that are covered in ticks in the worst way.

St. Francis of Assisi would be proud. Thank you, Andy and everyone who helps to be a part of this!!!

MAY ALL DOGS BE HAPPY!!!

Holy Taledo, you guys. Here it is. A decade worth of work. It might not look like much, but in actuality it is HUNDREDS of single page contracts for custom commissioned pet portraits. Every sheet of paper holds the name of a different client and some possessing the information for multiple paintings! It's a thick stack of copies containing a lot of blood, sweet and tears. A lot of love, a lot of friendships, a lot of long days and a heart that's full to bursting. I have been both successful and PROLIFIC as an artist and, for that, I say THANK YOU! ❤️ Because I could have never done it alone.

As I stood at the copy machine at Office Max for over two hours, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. I wanted to do a little bit of both. I'm wrapping up a pretty big chapter in my life and, wow....what I'm seeing is that my life has been built of so much goodness.

The best part? Most of these clients have become life long friends. My whole being is absolutely and completely full to the brim! ❤️

Help me put as much love into this next life endeavor of working with impoverished widows and children in Uganda. Life did a number on me with the loss of Carl. But I'll tell you what...I'm ready to step into this next calling with my whole heart and soul. The last 10 years have taught me how to step bravely into the next decade and all that might follow even that. But like before, I'm not meant to do it alone.

I love you, friends. Thank you for making this life worth living. 💗

Completing final commissions before I move to Africa. Thankful for such amazing, patient and inspiring clients. Wrapping up the past decade of my life has been an interesting and intense process, indeed! God filled, love filled and seriously sleep deprived. 😉 ....I think I'm ready for a nap!

Downtown at the Carlyle for a photoshoot. For a moment, I pretended I was in NYC. 🏙 Soon to be fully booked with new painting commissions before I leave for Africa. Enjoying each new shoot before I fly away with a newfound sense of freshness, inspiration and closure. Every client, new and old, a gift and an experience to be savored.

Oooooh!!! Can you believe it?! It's almost time!!! Lots of bittersweet emotions coming from this lil heart of mine. Tomorrow is possibly the last ever exhibition of painted pet portraits...at least for a long, long time! Africa beckons on the horizon and my heart is full with gratitude toward all the clients, friends and family who have helped me make these past 8 years a success. So much to be grateful for...in good times and bad, you all have been with me every step of the way and I can't wait to share this evening with you to say THANK YOU!!
