Our Little Free Library Needs Restocking!

Doghouse Books, our little free library in front of Downtown Dogs, is almost out of books. If you have any dog-related books -- for adults or children -- that you're ready to say goodbye to, we'd love to put them into circulation in the library. Just drop them off at the front desk of either Dog's Day Out or Downtown Dogs whenever we are open. Our fellow dog-loving book nerds will thank you!

Downtown Dogs and Dog's Day Out are wagging our tails in excitement to introduce you to Can Do Canines, our latest Change Unleashed! partner! Attend the "Tails & Treats" event on Wednesday, June 12, from 5-7 p.m. to learn more about Can Do Canines and their mission. Can Do Canines' volunteers help raise and train assistance dogs for people with disabilities. Enjoy delicious ap-paw-tizers, dog demos, and desserts while socializing, meeting Can Do Canines staff, and learning more about volunteer dog hosting opportunities. Today is National Pet Care for All Day

It celebrates organizations working to make quality behavioral and medical care accessible to all pets and their people.

It is also a day to remember that people should not have to choose between caring for themselves and their pets.

One organization doing this important work is Mission Animal Hospital (missionah.org), the only nonprofit full-service animal hospital in the U.S. dedicated to creating accessible veterinary care for all families. In 2023, thanks to Mission’s two-tier pricing program, more than 900 financial hardship-related pet surrenders were prevented. Dog's Day Out owner, Ralph Bernstein, is honored to serve as the chair of Mission Animal Hospital’s board of directors.
