Peach Flowering To***co will definitely make the list again next year. I was able to harvest a few Black-Eyed-Susanās before the bunnies got to them. Happy 4th of July everyone! A little red white and blue for you.
Whatās in the garden?
Bachelor Button, Centaurea cyanus, also known as Cornflower.
Even before these beauties bloom, theyāre producing nectar (excreted through leaves) to attract beneficial bugs to my garden for the season. They have such distinct silvery foliage and stems! The classic blue is most common but youāll find pink, white and purple varieties growing in my garden.

For those who may not know, I start all my flowers from seed, tuber, corm, or bulb in my home in Minneapolis, MN, and nurture them throughout the cold winter months. I also spend my days prepping, ordering, planning, calculating, and organizing all my farm needs & plans for the entire upcoming season. There is a lot more work to farming than most may realize, and if youāre anything like me, agonizing over which gorgeous flower seed has to be cut from my order to hit my budget is a time suck š„“ - I want to grow them all. It is the summer months that I am busy watering, harvesting, stripping, clipping, wrapping, and selling, which is busy too, but with a much different energy. The everyday beauty, quietness, and magic of nature that I get to be a part of every day in my gardens is like breathing again; my yoga - makes all the hard work worth it.
I am so excited to plant all these babies (and many more) outside soon and cannot wait to share the gorgeous blooms with you soon.

These unique multiple-petalled blooms cannot be rivaled, with four-inch heads of ivory white petals with frilly pink and salmon centers.
Spring is here!!!
Thereās a new restaurant in town, & you must go! My fellow neighbor Jo and her close friend Lisa bring a taste of Italy and southern France to south Minneapolis. These two very talented women, with impressive culinary education & experience, bring their passion for high-quality seasonal produce into every dish and emanate hospitality from the heart.
I am honored and proud to have the opportunity to dress their fabulous tables with organically grown, harvested, and designed flowers from my small urban farm

Remember those Ranunculus corms I started at the end of February, theyāre sprouting š±and I canāt wait to share with you this May and June!!!
I am growing 12 different colors of the most gorgeous varieties; Italian elegance, Persian buttercup, Tecolote, and Amodene to name a few. DM if you are interested in my 6 week spring flower subscription for weekly hand tied fresh-cut flower bouquets.
These babies have been potted up and kept @40-50 degrees for a few weeks. Just pulled them out of the cooler Monday, gave them a big drink and am admiring their growth already.
Scroll right to see a few of the blooms from 2023 which I saved, overwintered and are even farther along than the new corms.

This winter has been BUSY! For those of you who might not know this, winter is actually a very busy time of year for flower farmers. All the business side of things; that thereās zero time for in the growing and harvesting season, along with constant care of tubers & corms, seed ordering, seed starting & pre-sprouting, soil blocking, propagating, supply & material orders, crop planning, plot layouts, soil amendments, building a website, starting a newsletter, scheduling, working on sales leads, harvest calendars, workshops, seminars, grant writingā¦the list goes on. Makes it hard to find the time for instagram posts.
But this just makes me smile and hope it does the same for you. Look at all my 2024 babies. So far Iāve got over 1,250 seedlings sprouting, 170+ Ranunculus plants waking up, a dozen rose bushes, a dozen peony plants, 30+ dahlia tubers waking & sprouting for cuttings, 50 anemones pre-sprouting and even more to come.
So excited for the opportunity to share these much loved beauties with you this spring, summer & fall!!!

I always mean to share more about how I design without using floral foam & plastics, but I forget to take pictures. Today, I took a time-lapse video to show the centerpiece I created for a holiday party. Some florists are taking a big step towards being more sustainable, and I am proud to be one of them. Not using floral foam is a challenge, but I love thinking outside the box and happen to know a thing or two about building a good foundation š. In this time-lapse, youāll see how I used chicken wire and layered the winter greens specifically to form a solid structure to hold all the gorgeous blooms in place. #nofloralfoam means the flower arrangement has been created without plastic, green floral foam. #nofloralfoam #sustainableflorist #sustainablebusiness #floralcenterpiece #wintergreens #holidayflowers #centerpieces #holidaydecor

Tar paper has a proven track record of success. Homes across the world, are still standing because smart builders of old used tar paper as a weather barrier. Felt paper, also commonly referred to as tar paper, is an underlayment material applied to bare walls before siding is installed. Should any water get past the siding, properly-installed felt paper will act as a barrier to keep the water from damaging the wall sheathing or framing. #womanbuilder #yesIcan @homewithtrisha #buildwithbella @buildwithbella #waterproofing #exteriorwaterproofing
