UPDATE: Tundra has a murmur but his heart is just slightly enlarged meaning he’s not in heart failure. He was diagnosed with pneumonia! Thank goodness we did that x-ray!! He is going home with a boatload of meds. We STILL need help! There’s a vet pill was not a small one and with the murmur we are expecting more to come

In the frozen tundra of Minnesota this boy was left outside in a kennel… covered by a bedsheet… with an extremely minimal chance of being found…
luckily a Good Samaritan neighbor heard crying when he would bring his puppy outside. The first time he heard the cry was 3 days ago. He watched for any humans to come around… to feed him… or let him out… no one came. So the Good Samaritan began to feed and give water to him. Then came day 3. That was the day that he couldn’t handle how horrible the situation was anymore and called for help. He called one of our volunteers, who has established rapport in the area by donating pet items to those in need. She brought this dog to animal control.
The area that this occurred in is an area where people don’t tattle. They don’t meddle in each others business. However for a dog… a defenseless animal this neighbor did!
Can you imagine being stuck outside with no food, no water and nowhere else to go to the bathroom? He began eating his own f***s as a form of sustenance. Forced to wither away waiting for death, whether it be too hypothermia dehydration or starvation…

Tundra has completed his stray hold and is with his amazing foster. He began coughing so a vet appointment was made right away. He is currently still at the vet, but we have been warned that they are very concerned about his heart. He is getting x-rays now and we are starting to try to guard our hearts.

We are absolutely blown away! Thanks to all of YOU, we raised an incredible $3,207 at the garage sale, which will cover half of our vet bill at Pet Central!

We’re in awe of the outpouring of support—so many amazing volunteers, generous donations, and the incredible community that stands behind Pit Squad Rescue.

ITS GARAGE SALE DAY!

When Minneapolis animal care and control, sent us this incredibly adorable photo of a proud mama with her five itty bitty potato babies. We knew we had to try to find a foster. Whelping fosters are few and far between, but they are worth their weight in gold and save so many lives. We were incredibly lucky that a bunch of stars aligned making Foster available for them!
So just like that, we scheduled to pick them up

Upon pick up, the staff brought out Mom and puppies and raved about how incredible they were. However, they told us that the father was there too. They asked if there was any way we could find the ability to take him as well

…

Now began some pretty intense problem-solving. We knew that there was no way we were going to leave a member of this family behind, but we also did not know where the heck he was going to go or how the heck we were going to come up with the funding for all of the vetting that this entire family needs!

Despite that, In true Pit Squad fashion, we committed to bringing dad into rescue. Now we are reaching out to you to help us financially take care of this entire beautiful family!!

How do you say goodbye to the bestest boy? You don't, you say "I can't wait to be together again"
Yesterday, we made a tough decision to let our short but mighty boy, Jelly Roll, cross the rainbow bridge🌈 Jelly Roll had been with us a little over a year after being dumped in a rural area in the east metro in what we suspect was a backyard breeding situation. Days after entering rescue, he was labeled as a hospice case. The biggest medical concern being his heart. Despite that, he gave us the BEST year 💞

His heart 🩵 was literally too big for this world and I am forever grateful that you shared a piece of it with me as you will always have a part of mine. Thank you for always being a happy boy and making some of my hardest days easier.

This evening we said goodbye to the famous boy who charmed the world with his hugs.

🩵 Mr. S***fluffagus 🩵

One year ago we had just thrown him his best dog day ever party and checked off his bucket list. We were celebrating his final bucket list item after he defied all odds and beat heartworm despite how far it had progressed. That final item was:

✔️ To Survive

Now a year later his incredible foster and trainer, Rachel, noticed that he was not himself. His stomach was distended. He was breathing rough. He was just not the S***f she knew. Once he got the the vet they discovered that he had a large mass. It was so large that they couldn’t even find certain organs. He was in pain… it was time to say goodbye. He got yummy cheeseburgers and some chocolate. He had his favorite people there with him and even FaceTimed with the ones that were too far away. He spent his last moment surrounded in love

S***fy left a large impact on lots of people and he for sure left one on the entirety of this rescue. We know that S***f was not adopted… but he definitely found his forever home with us.

Please send your love to all of the people who are struggling with this goodbye. ❤️‍🩹

EDIT: FOSTER FOUND!

Goliath fka Sauage is about 2 years old. He will arrive fully vetted and he’s amazing with other dogs.
He may just be one of the most beautiful and photogenic potato dogs ever!
