Please meet our newest Super Pup, Forest! Forest is a Wirehaired Pointed Griffon, which are commonly used in hunting as they can both point and retrieve, which is a rare skill. Forest is an independent but happy and goofy pup who loves to go on walks and run around in his playroom by himself. He has a special fascination for his stuffed crab and will race around the house with it in his mouth. We're so happy he's joined the pack! ❤️

We got to spend last weekend with our good friend, Koda the Shiba Inu! Koda is the sweetest little man who looooves playing fetch but also hates giving up the ball so fetch is a lot of watching him rapidly drop and pick up his ball until he decides he can finally let go of it for a second so it can be tossed again. 😂 We always have so much fun with him!

Sometimes our head Super Pup needs a vacation just like everybody else. Today he's up in north western Maine, in the Carrabassett Valley checking out Sugarloaf Ski Resort! We just love Miss Cookie! She has been part of the Super Pup family for a few months now, which for most dogs is ample time for them to get used to me visiting a few times a week. However, while Cookie looks like a teddy bear, she's actually a Chow Chow, which is a breed that can often be more standoffish toward people they don't know or don't trust and it can take them a long time to really trust someone. So while Cookie is all happy pup who loves attention from me while her parents are around, when it's just she and I, she is much more cautious about being touched and leashed.

It's vitally important to create a positive bond with our pups so they feel as safe and happy with us as they do with their owners. While the issue of leashing her could've been forced, I decided to start back at square one with Cookie and first get her comfortable with me in her space. The #1 rule with meeting new dogs or dogs that aren't comfortable with you yet - Never invade their personal space. Let them come to you. I often sit on the floor several feet away from the dogs to make them feel like I'm more approachable.

Lucky for me, her parents gave me a secret weapon. Miss Cookie will do just about anything for some jerky dog treats. There are many ways to get a dog to trust you, and I'm definitely not above bribery especially if it works! Here is Cookie the other day, not only invading my personal space (which is a big deal for her!) but also giving me different paws to shake so I will give her more jerky!

The last photo is her very unimpressed face when I told her there was no more jerky left. 🤣🤣

One of the most fun things about getting to play with dogs all day is seeing how much they enjoy just being weird, crazy, goofy, sweet dogs.

Miss Hazel here is our youngest Super Pup at around 9 months old, and boy is she full of energy! It's been a blast watching her grow up and develop some serious jumping and catching skills. We're not quite sure of her breed, but her parents and I sure have a lot of fun trying to guess!

This goofy girl loves to juggle her toys in midair using her front legs and also bark at all her toys that she doesn't catch immediately as if to scold them for missing her mouth. 🤣🤣

What do you guys think of her catching skills?!

Meet Cookie, our floofiest Super Pup yet! Cookie is a 6 year old black Chow who loves her humans, being out in the snow, and laying around just hanging out. Chows are very particular dogs and tend to take some time to warm up to new people which makes it extra rewarding when she lets you scratch her head!

Fun fact: Chows and Shar Pei's are the only two breeds of dogs that can have a black tongue, and Miss Cookie definitely has one!
