"Dogs…do not ruin their sleep worrying about how to keep the objects they have, and to obtain the objects they have not. There is nothing of value they have to bequeath except their love and their faith."

"There is a growing global trend to consider pets as part of the family. In fact, millions of people around the world love their pets, enjoying their companionship, going for walks, playing and even talking to them. And there is evidence suggesting that attachment to pets is good for human health and even helps build community."

To close out our month of memorializing our beloved pets, our communications manager, Anna, takes a moment to reflect on her handsome boy Frank's life, as well as his last moments 💜
"Our sweet Frank. I had the honor of picking him out as a puppy. He was the chubbiest one of his litter and when he wobbled over and plopped himself in my lap, I knew he was the one. Frank was the kind of dog that never met a stranger. He was a friend to everyone, especially our local FedEx driver that knew him by name. Frank knew when that big white truck came rolling down the driveway that he was about to get a treat (or two) and a really nice belly rub. Their friendship was so simple, but so special to watch through the kitchen window. Frank knew how to brighten everyone's day.
We had to make the painful decision to say goodbye to Frank when he was just 8 years old. He had multiple CCL tears that lead to some incredibly painful arthritis, along with a sudden eye removal surgery, his body was just too tired to keep going. We were so grateful to have MN Pets out to our home to help him pass. Frank’s favorite place in the world was my dad’s workshop. We were able to surround him there with love, next to the woodstove, and give him his favorite treat in the world—cheeseballs. Frank deserved a dignified passing and I’m so glad we were able to give that to him.
I miss being greeted by his sweet, smiling face and helicopter tail wags. I have this candle by my desk at work to remind me of his wonderful, joyful spirit."

As the temperatures drop, here's a suggestion on how to honor your pet – consider creating a memorial blanket. You could embroider their name on their cherished blanket or craft a patchwork quilt using a few of their favorite blankets. Some companies even allow you to upload photos of your pet to be printed on blankets. Whichever way you choose, a memorial blanket can provide warmth and comfort while reminiscing about your beloved pet in the chilly seasons.

MN Pets
We love our pets. They’re members of our family. That’s why we find it so difficult when it’s time to say goodbye.
Remembrance Ceremony
Over the last year, MN Pets has been fortunate enough to add many new Associate Veterinarians, Aftercare Specialists, and Support Specialists to our amazing team.
The next few weeks, we will be introducing you to our newest team members, as well as reintroducing you to some familiar faces that have been part of our team for many years.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the constant love and support you show us here, as well as the support you show each other. We appreciate each and every one of you.
MN Pets is an in-home euthanasia service that operates in and around the Twin Cities and Duluth-Twin Ports area. Our doctors travel to families’ homes to help give a gentle goodbye to their beloved furry family members.
Several years ago, our founder, Dr. Rebecca McComas, recognized the importance of home euthanasia for her family’s two elderly beagles. Having only experienced saying goodbye to a beloved pet in a clinical setting, she was struck by how different it felt to be at home. It seemed natural to bring this much-needed service to other pet owners, and so she started MN Pets in 2010, the first exclusively in-home euthanasia practice in Minnesota.
Since then, the team at MN Pets has grown to include other highly qualified veterinary professionals who share a common interest in supporting people and their pets through end of life care. Each of our doctors and support professionals have a similar understanding and appreciation for the bond you share with your pet, and the benefits of saying goodbye at home.
We believe that pets deserve a gentle hand and voice, and people need compassion and support as they go through this difficult experience.
The Buddy Fund
We have a fund in place, called the Buddy Fund, which helps us offer a little bit of assistance to families who are in need of our services but have fallen on hard times. Their pets are also deserving of a peaceful goodbye at home, surrounded by love, and we are so grateful when we are able to help make that happen. If you would like to donate to our Buddy Fund, to help these families give their beloved pets that peaceful goodbye, follow the link below.
