We will be having a team meeting tomorrow (Wednesday - 1/15) during our lunch period and our phones will be off and clinic will be closed from 11:45 AM to 2 PM. Our regular schedule will resume and phones will turn back on at 2 PM.

If you have any major health concerns that need to be addressed urgently, we recommend reaching out to an emergency clinic — Blue Pearl, University of Minnesota, Animal Emergency and Referral Center, or Allied Emergency Clinic. If you have any other concerns or questions, feel free to email us and we will reach out to you as soon as we can or give us a call at 2 PM when our phones turn back on.

As many of you have likely heard, concern is growing about the spread of the new avian influenza strain in at least 2 cats that were fed raw foods. This information has brought into the spotlight several issues, most notably around avian influenza but also the safety of feeding raw food diets to our pets.
Simply put, the evidence that raw food diets are dangerous (both to the pets eating those diets and to the people in the households) is substantial. Added to that, there are no studies in dogs or cats that show that raw food diets are more healthy or nutritious than conventional diets.
Following are just a few links to resources discussing this case in particular, but also the feeding of raw foods in general. We're so fortunate to have access to many safe, cost-effective, nutritionally balanced foods to feed our pets! For more information on what specific foods are best to feed your individual pets, contact your veterinarian for guidance!

If you have any medical emergencies, please reach out to your nearest emergency clinic for additional service. If your pet has eaten something that it shouldn’t have, you can contact Pet Poison Helpline at 800-213-6680 (there is a per incident fee) as they have toxicologists on line 24/7 to help assist. You can see our website for further help.
