we just received 66 pounds of pet food yesterday from an anonymous Chewy donor! Now I have enough Meow Mix for December and a good start on Friskies cans, Purina cat chow and some Friskies treats--always a hit! A big thank you to our anonymous donor! Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate all the people who have donated pet food to Ani-Meals this year. We have received 11 donations totalling $392 from Chewy since May and it really helped! During our fiscal year (April 2025-March 2026) we have been able to feed 140 cats and 48 dogs. The money donations through the cesmn.org website has helped me purchase quantities which has been a big help, too. THANK YOU so much for caring about our clients pets. The pets give them a reason to get up in the morning. Here's a picture of Milo coming back from getting his nails trimmed at K9 & Kitty Kutters--they treat him like the king he is and he loves going there!

Hi everyone, I'm in need of substitute drivers to help deliver pet food to our clients. Our next delivery date is this Saturday, August 9 . Routes are all in Minneapolis and take about an hour. Pickup time is between 10am and noon. Drivers receive the pet food, some litter and a route sheet with all the delivery information. Drivers call the clients to remind them they are coming.

My long-term volunteers, Michelle and her kids Nathan and Kiera just moved out of state. I will miss visiting with them and having them help me with the driver pickups. I am looking for one or two volunteers to help me the second Saturday of the month from 9am to 11:30am.

CES seems to be a magnet for lost kitties! I brought this cutie home with me and planned to rehome her. Turns out she doesn't like dogs, so she hid in my apartment. It took me 5 days to find her. TillieBean had no idea there was a cat in the house--talk about being oblivious! She was coming out at night to eat and look around. I finally found her in my closet and brought her to a client who wanted a replacement for her cat who died. That didn't go well; she wants to be an only child and the older mail cat was hiding on top of the refrigerator to get away from her! She ended up living happily with a CES employee as an only cat.

Our Story

Ani-Meals: Meals on Wheels For Pets serves the people and the pets in the Minneapolis. Many people in our neighborhood are homebound, at nutritional risk, may spend much of their time in relative isolation, and are often lonely. Meals on Wheels delivered meals help, but so may a beloved pet, relieving loneliness and providing companionship.

However, feeding a pet can be expensive. An animal can literally eat into the food resources of already vulnerable people. Meals on Wheels volunteers realized that some clients were giving up a share of their delivered food to feed their companions. This meant seniors going hungry, as well as animals not receiving their proper nutrition.

Ani-Meals provides monthly, weekend deliveries of some purchased, but mainly donated pet food. This includes some specialized foods, such as canned-only, grain free, small bites, UT and diabetic for animals with more specific dietary needs. We also are trying to help with getting pets up to date on necessary shots and spaying/neutering.
