I mix the grower with the layer mash for my ladies and two 4 month old chickies and as far as the boys, they just gobble it up!! My eggs are larger and shells are harder. Even the colours of the eggs are brighter like when my 3 yr old's were new layers. I have recommended your feed to everyone I chat with at the at local feed and grain that ask me, "Do you have chickens? What do you feed them?" It is very hard to fine feed with NO SOY!

5 Tips to Winterize Your Chicken Coop! ❄️🐓

1) Deep Litter Method: 🐓
Put down about four inches of bedding and turn it over repeatedly once or twice a week.

2) Build Internal Heat: 🔥
Fill cracks and crevices in walls around the coop & remove damp patches of litter around waterers.

3) Heated Waterers : 💧
Avoid water deprivation. A heating pan or an immersion heater are two common types of water heaters.

4) Keep Chickens Active: 🐔
Add a dust bath & a few chicken swings on non-drafty areas of the coop. Let them have fun.

5) Switch Feed to Starter Feed: 🐣Chicken's feathers are 85% protein. They need more protein to help them through the molting season.

🐓 Let’s talk about Natural Chicken Grit! 🌾

🌟 What is Natural Chicken Grit? 🌟

Natural Chicken Grit is required for chickens, but what exactly is it? 🤔

🥚 With grit, chickens can "chew" & breakdown feed so their body can absorb the nutrients they need to be healthy & produce larger eggs more consistently.

As chickens do not have teeth, they need grit (basically little rocks) to help break down and digest their feed.

Grit is rocks with nothing added. Specifically, 100% natural quartzite. Quartzite is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock which was originally pure quartz sandstone. Sandstone is converted into quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression within orogenic belts.

Even if your flock is free range and finding grit in the yard, we recommend supplementing their feed with grit to avoid digestive issues that are common without grit.

🔍 How to Use It: Simply provide a separate dish of grit in your coop for your chickens to peck at when they need it. They know when to use it & will not overeat.

Mile Four is a subscription-based organic chicken feed company based in Minnesota.

Our goal is to make raising healthy & happy backyard chickens as easy as possible by delivering the finest, freshest feeds at your convenience.

Mile Four owner, Luke, grew up 4 miles west of a little town in Minnesota on a 5th generation family farm that has been growing feeds & grains in the heartland since the 1800's. He's been trying to find a way to pair his family farming roots with his ecommerce background - hence Mile Four.
