Our chickens have never eaten other bought-food than that from Mile Four. We have given them also supplemental fresh food ever since they grew out of the early chick weeks. They seem to be thriving on the Mile Four and the supplemental fresh food. They are now on the layer feed and love it as much as the previous types of foods. I've mostly lightly fermented all their food since they did miss some of the powdered ingredients. Now that it's colder, I dehydrate the fermented foods so the food doesn't freeze or get too cold (but some of the powders get lost by serving the dried ferment). I started to also serve the pellets which they also love--and now we have of course no more issue with the loss of the powdered ingredients. I still serve them the whole grain ferment since I feel it might be very healthy. This week we harvested the first eggs and although the chickens haven't eaten supplemental calcium like oyster shells yet, the shells are quite hard, and the taste of the eggs is amazing. However, the crew will now have the option to take the oyster shell product if they decide that they need it. Thank you Mile Four for your wonderful products!

Mile Four - Organic Chicken Feed

Mile Four is a subscription-based organic chicken feed company based in Minnesota.

Our goal is to make raising healthy & happy backyard chickens as easy as possible by delivering the finest, freshest feeds at your convenience.

Mile Four owner, Luke, grew up 4 miles west of a little town in Minnesota on a 5th generation family farm that has been growing feeds & grains in the heartland since the 1800's. He's been trying to find a way to pair his family farming roots with his ecommerce background - hence Mile Four.
