The Egg Share is back!!
We are very excited to work with Chengwatana farms again! Lynn, who owns Chengwatana Farm is an amazing mentor to other farmers and also works with the water protectors in her area. We feel so lucky to work with Lynn and share her happy eggs. Chengwatana Farm is a beautiful place located on a dead-end road in the small rural community of Palisade, Minnesota. The egg share is every other week during the 16 week CSA season. The hens at Chengwatana Farm range on pasture, and are fed a high quality ration consisting of soy-free organic grains and vitamin-mineral supplements. The Omega-3 content of their eggs is enhanced by the addition of organic flaxseed and fish meal. The straw bedding in the hen house is used to make compost for the gardens. The water supply is from a pure, artesian well.

We love Chengwatanna farm’s vision. “Our vision is of a closed system of animals, vegetables, fruit trees, and forage crops that feed each other in a cycle of nutrition and decomposition. Livestock manures combine with carbon sources and vegetable and fruit wastes to form high-quality compost which is applied to gardens, orchards, and fields.” Link in bio.

This drawing is of the land we are already using. Over the past month we have received so many emails from neighbors wanting to give us land to use for our CSA. It feels so good knowing people are on our side. It’s also , news to us but super cool. We still have memberships for this coming season and we have a sliding scale so most can afford to be members. Check it out on our website.

Also, did you know we take recommendations for families to give these memberships? If you know a family who would love a CSA but it’s not financially possible send us their info. It’s 2022 and we are gearing up for this season’s CSA. We are now opening the CSA sign up. You can sign up here https://www.theblackradishmpls.com/csa-membership. We have the same sliding scale membership available. We're offering a one-size-fits all box for 16 consecutive weeks from early June through early September. We value quality over quantity and want to ensure every week is bountiful and beautiful. Once a week during our season we will offer our best produce, flowers, recipe ideas and from time to time, a sample gift from another local maker!
