Miniature Schnauzer rescue serving families in the surrounding areas of Minnesota and for whatever reason needs to rehome their Schnauzer
There is a process of application, home visits, meet and greets. The process starts with a phone call and only if you meet the requirements of Fenced in Yard and Live in the Minneapolis area. Questioning the two requirements and complaining about our policies will not help the dogs find a forever home.

Let's get this Dog home!
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's that are 4 legged Dad's. Because of you I have a bed.
Because of you I'm warm and fed.
You stroke the worries from my head
and tuck me in to catch my zeds
I don't do words
so, it goes unsaid
but let me lick your face instead
This one and 5 others available for adoption, we don't have them, Underdog Rescue does: https://underdogrescuemn.com/
Welcome to the Adoptable Dogs page, Monty!
Monty the Miniature Schnauzer was born on 7/22/23 and weighs 14.8 lbs.
Hello, I'm Monty and an adventurous, playful puppy who loves chewing on antlers and playing with toys. I'm not a huge fan of leashes, so I will require a fenced in yard, however, if you would like to take me for walks (which I love), just double-leash me because those hoppy/furry things called bunnies and squirrels are just too much for me to resist! I am a quick learner and need you to help me with being quiet in my kennel. Because of my vocal resistance to the kennel, it's best if you don't have a home with shared walls. I prefer if you have a resident dog about the same size as me to help calm me when you're not home for short periods of time, or even better, that you are home most of the day (because I need to get out and potty often being a puppy and all). I'm excited to meet you!

We couldn't be happier for Eliza the Standard Schnauzer! She loves her new home, yard, and humans. Eliza fit right into her new home and the family only reported great things about her. She loves her walks, cuddles, yard, and home. She walks perfect on the leash and hardly barks at all. I think she likes being the only dog and have all the attention to herself. Congratulations Eliza on a new start to a forever home.. your new Mom said the first day, "She is staying!" 🥰🐾🐾
Big WIN! Winona was charted as the biggest puppy millers of Minnesota, A big win for animals! Winona County votes to ban future permits for dog breeding kennels. Last Tuesday evening (February 13), the Winona County Board held a board meeting to discuss the issue of commercial dog breeding kennels in their county. Winona County is known for having the most puppy mills in Minnesota — kennels that mass produce puppies to sell to pet stores. Sooo--- many puppies came from this city to be sold all over the Midwest, Internet, and Pet stores. “These puppy mills aren’t happening far away. They’re happening here,” One city at a time? Big WIN!

Update on Atlas! He found a great home and wanted to share his graduation video with everyone! We are so proud of him and glad he found a great forever home that took the extra measure to send him to bootcamp. We are so proud of Atlas and congratulations on your achievement. 🐾🐾❤ 🥳
Here are some more photo's of Eliza: Looking for a foster or adopter. Please read her original post for more details.
Meet Standard Schnauzer: Eliza Jane, she was born July 31st 2018 who's owner needs to find her a new home due to changes in the family and is an emergency situation. Eliza's fear only is men with hats. She needs to be the only dog until she is fully socialized. We do not adopt to families with toddlers, and doesn't mind older children Eliza needs a person that understands this breed, a fenced yard, lives in Mpls. area, and not gone all day.
Eliza has lots of energy to burn and not being crated most of the day is what she truly craves. She loves car rides, running, her toys (which she loves to kill and destroy), and chasing the barn cats (so no cats) Being a Schnauzer, she is a barker and will protect her family from any stranger or noise, so apartment living is not for her. She weighs around 34 lbs. close to 2x the size of a Miniature Schnauzer. Standard Schnauzers are highly trainable with dedication and a time commitment, So, if you have the time to train, exercise, and spend time with her, she would love the companionship. Eliza will need a foster ASAP until she finds her perfect forever home. Click on Contact Us in the corner of our page if you can foster or adopt her.
Happy New Year and a reminder about FENCED LOVE:
Be sure to remember that one's needing our service and using us to place their dogs are because of one of our requirements. It is a fenced-in yard (electronic is not fencing). If there is a dog in our rescue it is because someone needs our help. We don't have them readily available like people think. Our focus is on finding forever homes for the families looking for our help. They trust us to place their beloved schnauzers in a safe environment. Our rescue is not for consumers and not a service for adopters, it's a service to that particular dog and its family. If you don't meet the requirements, do not complain on their postings, it does nothing to help them find a home, and it will be removed. We do not get paid for doing this service and strictly volunteer.

Happy New Year from Winnie the first puppymill MSPMSR Received and it was shocking to see her mental state being in a puppymill for only 1 year: 2000-2008. This Sweet Girl of an Ambassador to rescue taught us so much about how horrible dogs are treated like livestock. May each year of your passing bring awareness to the cruelty and end puppymills forever https://youtu.be/rfeRh6f5wHc?si=3urcgtKs0ygpPN59
Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday, would love to see your photos and to share the cheer with our wonderful followers, sharers, foster families, and adopters.

Closed for the Holidays, See you next year. We do not adopt Schnauzers needing our help to find a new home until next year:
Dogs are not gifts! We do not adopt during the Holidays and want the ones that come into rescue starting out their new forever home to be as normal as possible. Understanding the gift giving concept is for consumers that the novelty wears off and this poor dog is no longer wanted.
We do not adopt to people that want to find a dog for a family member or friend; Parents often say it is their kids' dog and in reality, it is the parents that are the main care givers that have to feed, train, walk and potty the only animal that can't go to the bathroom anytime they want. They also have to take them to the vet and have to buy them needed items...... a dog is a family member to us and not a gift for the kids.
If the receiver is a friend and since the dog was a gift, the excuse is, “I got him/her as a gift and the mindset is the product can be turned in like an unwanted sweater. People view the animal shelter as a kind of donation store. “Someone will want them” and shelters will take them in.
Shelters started out as taking in strays and now is a dog dumping zone and an “After Christmas drop off” site. It is sad and the grim reality of getting dogs as gifts. With all that said and seeing all these rescues sites pulling at your heart strings saying these guys need a place for the Holidays is wrong to us.
We will resume adoptions after the Holidays. Merry Holidays to all our readers!

Let's get this Dog home!
Atlas is still looking for a home to celebrate his birthday. He will be one year old December 23rd. He has gone through training, good with Kids, Men, Woman and super friendly. Good with large and small breed dogs that are playful too. Many people asking but no firm commitments. He is on the small side of a Miniature Schnauzer........... Who wouldn't want this guy? 3 Min. requirements is he has a secure fence area to chase his ball in, he isn't home all day alone, and applicants be in Minneapolis or close suburbs. Hit the e-mail us on top of page to request an application. 🐾🐾
Thank you to our Foster Friends Christine and Jeremiah! Now he is much closer to us, and they will continue to show him what family life is all about! We will update when he continually adapts and we know what this little guy wants and needs for a fur-ever home. Foster families are the backbone of rescues and believe our breed never does well in shelter situations. He is now safe in a loving home
9 month old, Atlas will be ready for his forever home that will on go his training at the end of October. This means a training class. He has been given training in the foster mom's home and is very smart and wants to learn. Rescue exists because people give up on behaviors that are not wanted and don't have the energy or means to take them to school. They are like children and need this. Lucky the initial family realized a puppy was more work than they thought and to give him up now rather than later. Their hopes is an active family that can take him for walks, training school, and keep learning. Atlas was also taken away from his littermates at 6 weeks old and another Human Error- He lost that time of learning to play with his littermates and behave. The video shows how much he is learning every day. Wish him well with his neuter surgery. If you live in the Twin Cities, have a fenced yard, and willing to take him to training, let us know and we can send you an application. He gets along with dogs, cats, and adults. Children unknown. Rescue does not adopt to families with babies or toddlers as this is a liability on our part.
Any negative comments will be deleted, we are the voice for Atlas and this is what he wants and needs. Mandatory home visits for this guy and all our Foster Friends. Here is a video of his training so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvuM7c4hslE
Trixie is sad that no one is willing to give her a forever home all dogs deserve. She is the True meaning of Rescue. She is only 2 1/2 years old and lots of years left to show her that the world is not so bad. Her behavior is due to being purchased during Covid and not being socialized. Being fearful is the only thing she knows and does warm up after she gets to know you. She cannot be around toddlers or visiting children, we need her to stay in the Twin Cities, and needs secure yard. If you meet her requirements, please let us know using the "contact us" button. Don't assume she is adopted by the comments as no one has asked for an application yet, some said they wanted her, but never followed through for some reason.
Meet Trixie! She is only 2 1/2 years old born 12/04/2020. She needs a home where she can be a good citizen of the household. She has the schnauzer attitude about being a big dog in a small body and being dominant over the 4 year old Male brother. Being a covid dog she was not very socialized. Since the parents are going to have real babies in the future placing her at a younger age rather then later, we are in hopes that she can find some one who can do some training. She herds small children and can't be placed in a family with youngsters or visiting grandkids. We realize it may take time to find her a home that won't make her anxious and can take the time to go to training, socialize her, and overcome her anxieties of strangers. We feel her being so young there is hope. We will visit her at the end August and have more information on Trixie at that time. Rescue dogs do come with baggage, we are not the breeders, we are the Voice for Trixie! If you can help her let us know.
Another Happy Tail.. JoJo has found a new family within 1 day - We didn't even have to advertise him as the timing was perfect. He has a new found freedom in his fenced in yard. He loves playing with his new sibling Hazel. Dot the Scottie loves him too! Let's wish him well in his new beginning. Landlords can be cruel to those with our beloved barking Schnauzers... he is in good hands with his new Mom that is a dog trainer.
2 10 year old females need a loving home. More information here: https://mchs.rescuegroups.org/ We do not have them but do know they are Breeder Release :'(
When adopting or fostering a rescued dog from a rescue or shelter,
it’s a happy time for you. HOLD ON THOUGH:
This may not be a happy time for them! It is a big mistake to have family and friends over and also over stimulating the ones that are scared. A tail wag does not always mean happy. The first week is critical and they need to decompress. Dogs that are older and not puppies need to do this and get themselves back into a calm state of mind; they are worried and stressing in their new environment even if they are not showing it. It takes one week to three weeks.
First and foremost, create a routine by taking a walk in the morning, breakfast, then outside again. Chill time, crate them near you while you do your thing. Chew time around noon with a Kong or edible treats like a bully stick. Do not feed raw hides. Keep them separate other dogs at first. Slowly introduced dogs by taking them out on walks. If that is a success let them socialize in the backyard. Once that goes good they can socialize in the home.
Think about this part hard because they can sense when you’re uncomfortable that is when protection mode goes on, especially Schnauzers. Do not worry if you have to go back a step. You are doing the right thing.
All are different and after they decompress, they start to show behavioral problems, you need to address it immediately. Growling, barking, lunging, or any other problem you see, call the adoption agency at once! No training is why dogs are given up in the first place.
ALWAYS: keep them in a crate during decompression time, and always when you’re not home. It’s up to you, to take responsibility to determine the steps to take. Too often they are fending for themselves. You need to watch new ones all the time and if you can't, then crate them.
It is not mean; they are like toddlers in a playpen. Giving them free reign can turn out to be life threatening, disastrous, and nothing anyone wants to come home to.

Here is Ray and Clark. Clark was being fostered by our long standing foster family. He was very standoffish at first but a few months later, patience, and letting them get to know each other slowly they are good buddies now. That said, it was a failed foster but in a good way! Congratulations Clark on your new forever home.
