PLANT-GROW-SHARE

A Central Neighborhood project bridging support structures for access to food and farming education. Families are also paired with a mentor.

Plant-Grow-Share works to create opportunities for the Central Neighborhood in Minneapolis to grow food, community, and personal empowerment. PLANT - Families that participate in the project are provided with the materials needed to grow their own organic raised-bed gardens. The relationship that grows between mentors and mentees provides support throughout the gardening season. GROW - Through a s

eries of workshops and gardening classes, participants gain confidence and gardening knowledge while getting to know fellow community members. Relationships, food, and skills are grown throughout the program. SHARE - As the summer progresses and the vegetables have ripened, families can contribute produce to the Little Free Farmers Market. This pop-up food cart will be biked around by volunteers every Saturday morning to share the harvest of this project with the community.

We are busy getting the seeds ready for winter sowing in the new year— from flowers to herbs, fruits, and vegetables!!

Have you started saving winter sowing containers yet?

Drop off any semi to fully translucent container with room for at least 2-4 inches of soil + growing space (i.e., gallon milk jugs, 2L bottles, a clear storage bin, + plastic pots/cups) st Hosmer Library!

Esta semana, tuvimos el honor de cosechar y donar más de 100 libras de cempasúchil (para el Día de los Mu***os) de un querido agricultor de PLANT-GROW-SHARE. Muchas de esas flores llegaron al Centro de Distribución de Alimentos Sabathani (Sabathani Community Center) y a toda nuestra comunidad circundante. Si las recibiste, ten por seguro que fueron cultivadas con amor.
