PAYPAL and SAFER ONLINE BUYING PSA
With it being a busy time for shipping, and with buying birds online being such a gamble of trust, I would like to just make it known for those who aren't aware...Paypal does NOT cover animal sales transactions, even with the Goods & Services option. Animals are against their rules, please read up thoroughly on their fine print because many of us or there are not aware of this. As soon as they are made aware that you bought (or sold) an animal and had problems, your protection is not worth a damned thing to them. If you managed to get a claim through, consider yourself very lucky and don't count on it happening again.
Other methods for a safe online transaction... check profiles closely for red flags (some scanners are getting quite clever). Educate yourself through Google on red flags to be in alert for if you don't already know them. Beware of those who are not willing to allow you a phone call or better yet, a video call, where they can show you they are real and their birds exist. This isn't foolproof, but all least lessens your risk. Scammers have made it hard for us legitimate breeders.
That being said, I allow buyers to pay with Goods & Services if they choose to, but since it's me that Paypal will charge the fees for that to, that will add 3% to the total that I'll charge you if you pay that way. I expect to get a certain amount from my transactions, including the shipping and box (I don't charge for time, tape, zip ties, and travel food), and I'm afraid I refuse to be the one to pay for a protection that is not real.
