A visit to the Giraffe Serengeti brings you close enough to one of the tallest mammals in the world. When the giraffe leans down to nibble out of your hand, they might steal a kiss from you instead! The Parakeet Encounter is on everyone’s favorite list! These colorful comical characters are sure to make everyone smile when they land on your hand, head or shoulder just to say “Hi”. Guests will have

the opportunity to hand feed many of our animals “critter food.” This is zoo approved treats that can be purchased in the gift shop. Or you can purchase petting food pellets from our vending machines throughout the park. Don’t be surprised when many of our residents come looking for a hand-out! Critter food/ petting food pellets can be fed to goats, sheep, deer, camel and aoudads. Or buy trout pellets from the feed machines and toss into the pond and see the entire surface come alive with a frenzy of trout or koi. Guests can just sit and relax in this peaceful and tranquil area. The fun begins as soon as you step foot through the zoo's main entrance! Enjoy the awesome petting zoo. Get up close and learn about amazing animals at the outdoor amphitheater. Leopard and tigers, oh my! Come and see many rare and endangered animals featuring the new Snow Leopards. Check out some of the world's largest, rarest, and most impressive animals, including Giraffes, Zebras, Bongo, Arabian Oryx and more! Don't forget to take a ride on the Safari Tram and enjoy the guided 30-minute tour viewing magnificent animals including Kudu, Nyala, Beisa Oryx, Scimitar Oryx, Wildebeest, Eland and more. Or swing into the primate world where you will find the playful Gibbons and the loud Siamangs entertaining you. After that, waddle on down to the African penguins, where they will come and greet you up close! If you get hungry grab a hot dog or deep fried cheese curds or maybe a sweet treat at the ice cream shoppe. You will spend the entire day wandering through the 259 acres at Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo and Safari. Our friendly Cashew is here to represent hump day and world camel day here at Wildwood.

🐪camels live on average 40-50 years

🐪 a large camel can drink around 30 gallons in just 13 minutes

🐪 Camels have long eye lashes, ear hair and closeable nostrils to keep sand from affecting the camel

🐪 camels can survive for long periods of time without food or water.

On this day in weather history, back in 2018, monthly April snowfall records were officially shattered at most locations across the region due to the 2 large snowstorms during the first half of the month. Bayfield in northwest Wisconsin recorded 47.4 inches. Record setting snowfall totals for the month across northeast Wisconsin: Tigerton 45.3 inches, Sturgeon Bay 44.0 inches, Peshtigo 43.5 inches, Oconto 41.9 inches, Shawano 41.5 inches, Rosholt 41.3 inches, Shiocton 38.2 inches, Pulaski 37.1 inches, Baileys Harbor 37.0 inches, Washington Island 36.9 inches, Green Bay 36.7 inches and Stevens Point 35.3 inches. Record cold was also noted on several days during the first half on the month. Temperatures for the month averaged 7 to 11 degrees below normal.

Come on over to the zoo either Saturday or Sunday for our annual spring zoo clean-up. Earth day is tomorrow as well- so what a great way to help maintain a clean environment by coming and spending the day outdoors and helping out at the zoo! With the crazy winter we have had, we have way more clean up this year than in the past. Do your part for Earth Day- spend some time in the nice weather we have coming up and stop out and help rake the zoo. Lunch will be provided both days for all volunteers!

The critters heard we did an Easter egg hunt yesterday with the kids …. They were jealous. So we put one on for them and they loved it just as much as the kids!
