This is Trouble! He needs his own post!
Despite his name, he’s really no trouble at all. I’ve been watching Trouble for a few years now, and he’s one of the few dogs I’ll watch in my home.
He’s always ready for adventure whether that be a trip to the dog park or a ride to a dog beach.
He is a household favorite. 😊

I don’t advertise this, but I do dabble in a bit of dog sitting. (I am fully booked for the time being, sorry ☹️)
While I do charge for dog sitting, I think I can consider it a hobby. There’s truly nothing I enjoy more than enriching the life of a dog (especially my own). It is extremely rewarding to have a relaxed dog at the end of the day.
I achieve this (and you can, too!) by spending time at dog parks, trails, enrichment activities, training. Some of my dog’s favorite activities include going to the dog beach, local dog parks, walking nature trails and enjoying a licki mat.
Everyday doesn’t have to be like this. It’s not realistic, but the days that I can provide an enriching life for my dogs and the dogs I dog sit… I know it’s been a great day for them, and me!

Today is Adopt A Shelter Pet Day!
I’m a big advocate for adoption. The collie you see in a lot of Planet Doggo pictures is my dog, Charlie. She was adopted from K9 Lifeline Rescue in Wisconsin.
3.1 millions dogs find themselves in shelters every year with 12% of those dogs ending up on euthanasia lists.
Why do we see such high numbers of dogs in shelters? This is a long, complicated question with a long, complicated solution.
Education is a great start to finding a solution.
Spay and Neuter! This is the simplest way to help shelters and to help keep intake down. Low cost clinics exist. Spay Illinois in Lisle is a great organization who offers low cost pet care to the area.
Kill shelters have a negative connotation about them, but they shouldn’t! Kill shelters are not the problem. Kill shelters are owned by municipals, they don’t have the ability to fundraise. They work with the limited amount of money and space they have. Imagine managing a shelter in a rural area where the people don’t spay and neuter their pets because of lack of resources! I know I would not want to be put in the position of operating that shelter. When the unlimited amount of dogs keep flowing in, they are the ones left to make the hard decisions of who is put on the euthanasia list.
Irresponsible breeders are the real problem. Backyard breeders. Puppy mills. They breed dogs at a high production for a quick profit with zero thought about what if this family experiences a crisis and can no longer keep their dog. No genetic testing to make sure the dogs new family won’t be put into a situation where they choose rent or their dog. No consideration for the ongoing problem of overcrowding.
I could go on and on, but in short, lack of resources and education play a huge part in why we see so many dogs in shelters. Which is why we need to support our local animal shelters, make sure the public has accessible pet care and to put in some time to research where we are buying our dogs from.
Most importantly, consider adopting a shelter pet!

I’ve been in the dog daycare industry for 6-7 years now so why dog p**p? Why now?
I started this dog p**p pick up and removal company for a handful of reasons.
Planet Doggo has a bright future, so I wanted to get the name out there. To be able to introduce myself and the name to people in the communities I service.
So far, it’s been rewarding. It’s mostly hauling around dog p**p, but I have already met some really great people!
My hours are limited, but I hope to be able to change this some time in the future. I want to be able to offer basic training sessions or even advice to the dog owners of the area, but this will come with time.
I have lots of ideas bouncing around in my head, so I hope you all stay tuned for what is to come!
