Our idea of Friday night fun 😂🥳Some of you may remember Comet doing this trick as well! He could turn them off and on… so we have more work to do with Rocco 😉. And we would have a lot more work to do if this was a true service task (increasing distance away from switch, differentiating to a variety of switches, etc!!) But a few key points for teaching any higher level trick…. 1. BABY steps- break it down into the simplest steps possible. 2.Don’t rush- don’t move onto the next baby step until you’re sure your dog has the previous one down pat 3.Guide your dog with your voice and number of treats … if Rocco is making a good effort in the right direction he gets a “yes” and one treat. If he totally nails what we’re going for (even if it’s inadvertent at first) then he gets a very enthusiastic happy voice and 3 treats 😂… and he totally understand this. 4.Take breaks! Learning something new takes a lot of energy for your dog so keep training short and fun and move onto something different when you sense your dog is getting tired or frustrated #poodlelove #poodle #poodlestudservice #poodlestudcharlotte #phantompoodle
Chance (first picture) is probably the most chill tiny dog we’ve ever met. He occasionally gets the zoomies but mostly loves to wear sweaters and nap 😆.

This is Chance (our toy poodle boy!) meeting his new bff 😆. She cried when he left… it was true love. But in all seriousness, this has always been our goal with breeding… to produce dogs that are “bombproof” with all humans, which can be a challenge with the tinier breeds (often known for being touch-sensitive / reactive). Socialization is part of the equation, but genetics matter, too- The only way to produce the temperament we want in our pups is to start with bombproof parents! We took Chance to a new house with multiple kids petting him and while we did supervise carefully, we weren’t concerned about how he might react in the slightest! He proved us right 💚. We are LOVING our newest boy 🥹. Chance’s temperament is exactly what we were dreaming of… he’s so calm, mellow and mild-mannered but still affectionate and loves meeting new people. We think he has excellent therapy dog potential… but first he has to master some basic obedience!
