We have got 5 cats in need of dentals. This is a pretty involved procedure as the cats will need to be put under anesthesia. This is also a costly procedure for just one animal, let alone 5.

First up is Paws, but also Missy Moo, Mondavi, Gremlin, and Smokey all need dentals.

This week on A4A’s Anatomy!

Our medical team was kicking butt and taking names AGAIN! We did have a bit of a tough week tackling two medical emergencies first thing during the week.

We started Monday with not one but 2 dogs with medical crises. Mishka had eaten her bone, causing slivers of bone to scrape and cut her intestines with bleeding. She spent 2 nights at the emergency vet. Thankfully, she was spared needing surgery, and is currently back to 110%.

Miss Katya, a senior medical foster dog took a down turn causing her to not be able to walk, eat or drink. Katya sadly passed early the next morning.

Our Monday quickly took a turn in a positive direction with 4 kittens being born to Mom Mindy in her foster home - adding 4 new lines to the medical spreadsheet.

2 dogs and 3 cats spayed/neutered and rabies if needed

2 kittens and 1 dog done with medical visits

Foster kitten with runny eyes that spiraled quickly - started antibiotics and close monitoring - she is feeling better!

Cats battling Upper Respiratory Infection well!

Heartworm, flea and tick Preventative to those due - in the winter?!? Yes sir! Not getting Heartworm or flea/tick born diseases on our watch!

Annual vaccines for 1 cat and 1 dog that have been with us for a year now.

Intake exams with vaccine, dewormer, FIV/FeLV test for 2 cats

We got to see 2 little dogs in foster for nails, teeth check and weigh ins. Diet started for one (portion control!)

Directed emergency care remotely for a senior dog in foster that woke up with a phlegmy cough, labored breathing, decreased activity and appetite. She is now doing much better!

With the weather expected the next couple of days we just want to remind everyone about the dangers to your furry friends too.

Here are some tips:
- Keep to short potty breaks
- Use sweaters or booties
- Find inside enrichment for your dogs such as games, kongs, treat puzzles, etc.

Wishlist Wednesday!

We need some new cat towers, toys, and scratchers. Our kitties just LOVE playing and sleeping on these items, so they become well loved, and in need of TLC and replacement!

🚨URGENT MEDICAL UPDATE!🚨

Yesterday we had two animals with urgent medical needs.

Mishka, one of our sweet chows had blood coming out her rear, and was taken to the vet for evaluation. She has some internal trauma and is staying at the vet for monitoring. We will update on her progress.

Secondly, one of our senior girls Katya started to decline rapidly, she was not eating or drinking and really lethargic, she came to be monitored by our director, Michelle, and went home with her last night. She is visiting a vet today!

Medical Monday! This week on A4A’s Anatomy….

Our team played 'is she pregnant or not?' with a cat - who knew that it could be so challenging to tell? She was not, but was in heat.

We did vaccines, dewormer, flea prevention, microchip placement, and FIV/FeLV testing on 11 cats and kittens

Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) antibiotic and monitoring for 12 cats

Bordetella booster for our oldest foster/hospice dog, Monte

Heartworm, flea and tick Preventative for 2 dogs

Vaccines & FLEX blood test for 2 new dogs

6 cats spayed/neutered

1 cat rabies vaccine at Preventative Pet Health of Michiana

1 cat sterile urine collection for diagnosing cause of inappropriate urinating outside of the litterbox. Found a crystal so started on prescription diet and short course of anti-inflammatory med.

1 cat leg and hip xrays for limping and sitting weird - did anyone have medial displaced patella on their Bingo card? She will be just fine, just walk a little differently.

Preop visit and antibiotic for dental prophylaxis for a senior dog (next week Miss Maggie!)

Monitor and treat 1 cat for possible recurring puffy paws.

Preop weigh in for 3 kittens - 1 out of 3 are at the 3lb mark for spay/neuter!

Whew, what a week!

Meet them Mondays is back! Time to introduce you to our newest animals available for adoption!

We have Mictecacihuatl (Meek-tay-kasi-wattle)…. Try saying that 5 times fast 🤪. But you can call her Mee’ta. She’s a little shy and will need some patience, but once she warms up, she loves attention.

Next up are the Game night kitties; Uno, Clue, Jumanji, Boggle, and Twister. They are 3.5 months old. These affectionate, playful littles are ready to come home and enjoy a family game night.

We’ve got a sweet senior boy. Otis is a quiet timid 17.5 year old boy. He deserves a soft place to land during his senior years.

Last but certainly not least is Tina. Tina is a sweet girl of about 6 months old. You can meet her at Per Supplies Plus in South Bend.

Our hearts are heavy. 💔

One of our volunteers and supporters passed away unexpectedly Dec. 20. Chani was well loved by her family and fellow volunteers!

Merry Christmas from All 4 Animals!

As we spend time with our families today we want to reflect on how grateful we are to be in this mission. Some days are hard, but it’s all worth it.

We are surrounded by an INCREDIBLE community that turns out for us regularly. What we do would not be possible with out your support.

We have the absolute BEST volunteers! This group shows up daily to help us care for the almost 200 animals in our care through fostering, cleaning/animal care shifts, helping with adoptions, and all the other ways you help keep us going!

We are also grateful for all our partners in rescue. The local shelters who are in this mission with us, the veterinary offices who help our animals, and the local pet stores, Pet Supplies Plus, Petco, and Pawmart, that have adoption centers within their stores.

Santa has visited A4A!

Our amazing volunteer Allison Ling organized collecting stocking stuffers for the animals in our care and our other volunteers came through with all the treats and toys! We love getting to spoil the babies while they live with us waiting for their forever homes!
