We were happy to care for this adorable baby skunk found by our wonderful local animal control 🦨! This little fella was transferred to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator the next morning ☀️.

Here are a few fun facts:
🦨 Skunks are nocturnal 🌙.

🦨 They have a varied diet and even eat bugs 🐛 - making them a great, natural pest control!

🦨 They only spray when left with no other option.

🦨 There are two species of skunk are native to CA

Those little squiggles are Intra-Cellular rods and cocci - types of bacteria. This particular sample was from a cat who was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. He was feeling much better after paid meds and antibiotics 💊!

Bee stings 🐝!

In sunny California, we have these wonderful pollinators all year round. This means that even as we get into cooler weather, unsuspecting pups 🐶 can find themselves getting stung 🐝 after getting too close to a bee!

What happens when your pup gets stung? They become envenomated (venom isn’t only in snakes, it’s in wasps, spiders, and bees). Just like people, dogs can have a range of symptoms 🏥.

Anaphylaxis can result in weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, and more. Testing will show elevated blood values and gallbladder swelling. A milder allergic reaction can include some of these symptoms, facial swelling, and/or hives.

If ever in doubt that your pet has been stung by a bee, give us a visit or call 📱. In addition to starting diagnostics and treatment right away, we often find the stinger (to prevent further irritation).

Sammy did NOT ❌ want to share his toy with his sibling, so he ate it instead. Spoiler alert 🚨 - was retrieved through endoscopy, preventing the possibility of an intestinal obstruction.

In Sammy’s case, he did NOT ❌ want to share his favorite ball. How do you think he hid it from his dog sibling 🐶 🐶?

We keep a variety of juices 🥤 and prebiotics and postbiotics 🦠 on hand. It’s not for our heath, but our patients 🐰!

This bunny was experiencing something called gastrointestinal stasis. Our bunny patients have a sensitive gut that needs to always be moving and in action 💪. When it enters stasis, it needs a kick start. That’s where a special blend of high fiber foods, juice, and pre and postbiotics come in to help ❤️‍🩹. It’s the ultimate superpower smoothie!

Whoo 🦉 is this handsome bird? A great horned owl!

This owl is not winking, contrary to how it looks. They sustained trauma from likely a collision with a car 💥. We’re happy to share that after a night of TLC and medical care, they transferred to Orange County Bird Of Prey Center for long term rehabilitation.

Fun fact - those “horns” aren’t horns at all. They’re feathers 🪶!
