- Negative heartworm test from a vet for Tri-Heart
- Individual cat carrier for each cat
- Leash for each dog
- All animals in the cabin of the vehicle (no pets in the beds of pickup trucks)
- Muzzle if your dog is aggressive, anxious, or scared (for safety)

On this special day, the Rio Grande Valley Humane Society extends heartfelt gratitude to all veterans, including the remarkable four-legged heroes who have stood valiantly beside our brave men and women. We are deeply honored to share the inspiring story of Sergeant Fieldy and his devoted handler, Marine Corporal Nicolas Caceres. Their unbreakable bond exemplifies the profound connection between service members and their canine partners. Corporal Caceres continues to champion the Sgt. Fieldy Act, a noble initiative aimed at granting military working dogs the honor of being laid to rest in national and certain state veteran cemeteries. This act seeks to recognize the unwavering loyalty and sacrifices of these courageous animals. We extend our deepest appreciation to all who have served, both two-legged and four-legged, for their selfless dedication and service.

🐾 Hey there… I know I may come off a little “ruff” around the edges, but please don’t let that scare you away. 🐾

Hi, I’m Claussen, a Shar-Pei mix with a gentle heart just looking for someone to believe in me. I’m a little wary of men, and my past may have been a hard one, but once I feel safe, I’ll be the most loyal friend you could ever ask for.

I’ve been at the RGV Humane Society since last May, making me the 7th longest stay dog here. I waited months and months for someone to see me and give me a chance. Finally, this January, a kind foster family welcomed me into their home, giving me a safe space to come out of my shell. Now, I’m ready and hoping to find a forever home.

✨ Here’s a little more about me:
- I’m a Shar-Pei mix
- Approximately 5.5 years old
- Potty trained
- Crate trained
- I get along well with female dogs
- I’m a couch potato who loves calm, quiet company 🛋️

My foster family has shown me what love feels like, but I know it’s time for me to find a family of my own. Could you be the one to open your heart to me? I’ll give you every bit of love I’ve been holding onto. 💔

🎉 October Recap! 🎉 Last month, 76 of our wonderful pets found loving forever homes, and 15 were happily reunited with their families! We’re so grateful for everyone who helped make a difference in the lives of our RGV pets. ❤️

But our journey continues! We still have over 430 pets in our care and foster homes who are waiting for a chance at their forever family. Could that be you? 🐾 Visit us any day from 11 AM - 6 PM to meet them and make a difference! 🏡

Shortstack just found his forever family! 🐾❤️

This sweet couple recently lost their beloved senior pitbull and wanted to find a new pup to honor his place in their family. Instead of going to a breeder, they stopped by our shelter to see if any pups here needed a forever home.

Even though it was close to closing, our dedicated team stayed after hours to give them time to meet and bond with Shortstack. After a walk, playtime, and plenty of cuddles, they knew he was the one! 🥰🐶

Thanks to your donations, pets like Shortstack get the chance to find loving homes! ❤️🏡
