Good morning Missoula! Come visit us at Pet Fest today! We are giving away lots of treats and toys for your pets, as well as raffling off some great prizes! The raffle is free, you just have to fill out a raffle ticket! You can win an awesome Noxgear LightHound vest or some great camp chairs! We will be here all day and can't wait to see you!

Pet Emergency Center will be at this year's Pet Fest in Missoula! The festival is Saturday, August 16th at 10am in Caras Park. We are super excited to sponsor the event, give out lots of prizes, and talk to amazing pet owners! Visit our booth at the event next month!

This week we are extra appreciative of the veterinary receptionists on our team! Doctors, technicians, and assistants couldn't do their job without the wonderful support and organization they receive from CSRs. Thank you PEC receptionists for everything you do to keep our hospital running! ❤

Meet Samson! This little kitty came in last week after being missing for 7 days. We were able to give him the blood transfusion that he needed. He responded well to the transfusion and he is now at home and feeling better! The PEC team loved having him in hospital since he is so sweet, but we are very happy that he was able to go home. Yay Samson!

People often wonder what the difference between critical, emergency, and urgent veterinary care is. Our last 2 posts addressed this question. Our final question:

Can you see my pet for Urgent Care?

The Pet Emergency Center is happy to see cats and dogs who need urgent care. Urgent care may include:

Abscesses
Sneezing / nasal discharge
Limping
Skin conditions
Ear infections
Diarrhea
Lethargy
Broken nails
Deworming for intestinal parasites
Treatment for pain

We are open 24 hours a day to see your pet for their urgent care needs.

If a dog or cat is experiencing any of the following conditions, it may be an emergency.

Frequent vomiting
Distended or painful abdomen
Bloody diarrhea / urine
Fractures
Allergic reactions
Birthing difficulties
Painful
Lacerations
Poison or toxin ingestion
Snakebites
Breathing difficulty
Weakness or collapse

The Pet Emergency Center is open 24 hours a day and is ready to see your pet who may need emergency care.

What is considered “Critical Care?"

The following situations may be critical and need immediate intervention:

Unresponsiveness
Collapse
Respiratory distress
Pale gums
Straining or unable to urinate
Actively seizing / multiple seizures
Hit by a car
Poison or medication ingestion
Excessive bleeding
Major trauma such as animal attack or gunshot
Unregulated diabetes
Dehydrated patients who need IV fluid therapy

The Pet Emergency Center has a veterinarian and staff on site 24 hours a day who can provide around-the-clock critical care to cats and dogs.

We had the sweetest little girl come into our clinic yesterday! This is Covey and she came in to PEC because she had an upset tummy. Here, she is getting some xrays. After diagnostics, we sent her home with medications to help her feel better! Our technicians loved working with this adorable pup 🥰

This is King! He came in earlier this week for a wound on his paw. We were able to clip and clean the wound, and we gave him a bandage fit for a king! It was such a delight to work with this pup and our team loves putting on decorative bandages when they have extra time.
