I’d like you all to meet Big Sky Smitty. Smitty is a 7 year old intact male from the original Big Sky Retriever lines. Smitty is the son of Big Sky Ace and Big Sky Nyx. You will recall Ace is the son of NFC FC AFC MAXX’S SURPRISE and Nyx is the daughter of NFC FC AFC HUNTER RUNS BOOBOO. Smitty’s champion retriever bloodlines run deep.

7 years ago after my mom lost her beloved dog she went into a depression. We had a Nyx/Ace 8 week old puppy so we sent Smitty to live with mom. Smitty gave mom a reason to go on. Many years later mom has been moved into assisted living and could not keep Smitty. We gathered Smitty up and brought him to the ranch in Hot Springs Montana. He has been with us for a couple of months now and has proved himself to be a fine Big Sky Lab and ready for adoption.

Smitty had extensive obedience training and lived inside with my mom. He is fully house broken and a wonderful companion Lab. He has never been hunted but demonstrates classic Nyx/Ace retrieve and definite prey drive.

We are offering Big Sky Smitty free of charge to a great home where he will have room to run and be the center of someone’s world. If interested call David at 406-531-6939. Smitty is an AKC registered American Labrador Retriever whose registration can be transferred.

It is with profound sadness and a broken heart that I need to inform you that Big Sky Briggs has passed away. We are not sure whether he was kicked by a cow or hit by a car as we found him in a bad way. With much travail we were able to move him inside and spent the night loving and comforting him. He passed on in the morning at 5 am by my side. I laid him to rest in a lovely place under a tree looking out over the fields of the ranch he loved.

Briggs had 4 or 5 litters with his only girl Ms. West. If you have a Briggs/West puppy you will most certainly understand our sorrow. My greatest joy was to come home and be greeted by Briggs turning circles in the driveway with fantastic joy. He was the first to be in my face upon opening the car door.

I believe in God, the creator of all life. I know the Father in Heaven loves me, and thus I know when I enter eternity in Heaven, Jesus will be there to greet me with Briggs turning circles of joy at His side.

I love you Briggs and miss you terribly.
