The babies' area was upgraded today. I think they like it. They are getting so big, so they needed some extra space. Lol :)
I know it's been a bit since I've posted. These guys are keeping me busy. They have changed so much. Just getting to the fun stage.
We started litter training and puppy mush this week. They are doing well but we're still working on it. I went in to change out their pad and they were all awake and playing. :)
Will get individual photos this weekend.
It was so pretty outside today.
First time with activity cube. They really liked it. :D
We get so excited at meal time. :D
3 week update: The babies had many firsts this week. First dewormer, first exposure to litter box, first puppy mush, and first puppy battles. They liked the dewormer, and they love puppy mush. They are doing pretty well with the litter box. They have both gone into the litter box to do their business, but still plenty of accidents especially when mommy comes into the area. They'll get better with it though.

This weather has kept everyone inside for too many days. The puppies were going stir crazy so I blocked off a large tiled area to see how they would handle it. They love the extra room and no potty accidents!
Also, Georgia and Nora spent the night in a crate last night for the first time. A little whining at first, but not much. Bedding was dry this morning, 8 hours later. Yay!
Georgia, Nora, and DeeDee getting a little exercise this morning. Happy Mother's Day everyone!
Puppies are 9 weeks old today. They are eating twice a day now (breakfast and dinner), plus some treats (but not every day to avoid tummy upset). I've stopped wetting their food as they are drinking so well. Outside time is still their favorite. They are definitely teething and chewing on everything. If yours are having similar issues, I suggest bully sticks to save your finger, toes, and clothes. Mine love them, but only under supervision and with a bully stick holder to prevent choking. Fair warning....they all stink, even the ones that say they don't smell.
I think this video is a pretty good at showing the difference between the mini sized and the toy sized puppies. DeeDee is 3 days older than Georgia and Nora. They are all registered as miniature schnauzers, but DeeDee is regular mini size (15-16 pound range). Today she weighs 6 pounds. She's double the size of Georgia (2lb 14oz) and Nora (3lb 13 oz) - toy sized mini schnauzers.
7 weeks old today:
All puppies from this litter have been reserved.
It's getting real now y'all. Pick-ups start Friday. I know everyone is excited and I'm looking forward to meeting you all! :) I think I have provided my information to everyone but if you don't have my address, phone number, and email please reach out on messenger.
We have continued to work on outside trips every 2 hours. The puppies all love going outside. Six little bottoms hit the ground as soon as they feel grass. I never guarantee puppies are 100% potty trained, but as long as there is consistency with outside trips and an option when your puppy can't go outside, I don't think you will have problems. I do not recommend withholding water during potty training. A puppy should always have access to fresh water.
All puppies have had age appropriate vaccines. They'll get one more dose of dewormer on Wednesday. They are also getting their first puppy cut that day. I'll take and post individual photos then. There is nothing cuter than freshly groomed schnauzer puppies.
This week we have been working on separating from the pack/getting comfortable with a crate. The puppies are individually put into a puppy crate for a short amount of time with toys and a blanket. After time is up the puppy is given tons of praise and love as well as a treat. Then the puppy is placed back with the other puppies. Last night everyone spent 10 minutes alone. Tonight we'll try 15 minutes. Cash, Nora, and Freya aren't bothered by this at all. They are often laying down and relaxed. Liesl, Savage, and Georgia are adjusting.
Even if you don't intend to crate train your puppy, it's important that puppies learn to be alone and are exposed to different experiences. This is especially important in the first 3 months. It helps develop a calm and confident puppy/reduces anxiety and fearfulness. The AKC website has some good articles.
