Little Man is rocking his second week of training! He is a 7 month old pitty and is working through distractions while walking. You can see he really wants to play with my dog at times, but does a great job refocusing on me! Way to go Little Man!
Little Man working on his come and leave it with with the baby and hubby. Last week he would get too excited/ interested in the baby on his shoulders so he had to be on leash during interactions. He has now graduated to being off leash!
After we played with the flirt pole, we worked on his down stay. He did such a great job👏 even when I started to jog away! Here’s the sped up version of the clip.
Charlie’s parents had sod put in the backyard this week and Charlie can’t go back there for the next two weeks.
His parents got him a tie out for out front for potty breaks and for when they’d like to sit out front with him. Since we can’t play in the backyard, we used the tie out so we could play with the flirt pole out front.
Charlie did so well on his walk today! We went on about a 20 minute walk in his neighborhood. Charlie was able to walk nicely on leash for most of the walk with him pulling only a couple of times and attempting to do zoomies only once.
Prior to his walk, we had a short play break in the backyard with a flirt pole for about 5 minutes. It helps to get his energy out which allows him to be more focused on our walk.
Check out a short clip from our walk today!
Board and Train Dolly: Loose Leash Walking
She did so well with her walking! She had moments were she would pull at times, mainly to try to say hi to people, but most of the time was able to walk nicely next to me.
Board and Train Dolly: Socialization
One of the workers was restocking the shelves so we worked at a distance reinforcing her checking it out and checking back in with me.
Coaching Lola: Loose Leash Walking
Lola had her last lesson today! We went on a walk around the block and worked on her walking skills as well as her leave it and come. She did pretty well most of the walk! The cats were a hard distraction for her, but with some distance she was able to work through it.
Both her and her mom have done such a great job and have seen a lot of improvement over the last few weeks. They’ve been working hard I’m certain they will continue to do well!
Board and Train Dolly: Come
Dolly working on some recalls in the front yard!
Day Train Mac: Loose Leash Walking
For Max’s lesson today, we mostly worked on his walking on leash. One of his parents biggest complaints is that he pulls on leash.
I took him on the route his mom takes him and worked on him walking with a loose leash and checking in with me. He loves to sniff and mark on things, so I made sure he got to do those that long as the leash was loose. He did pretty well for most of the walk, although he did have a few times of pulling when he really wanted to go somewhere.
Board and Train Dolly: Play session with Duck
Dolly hasn’t really had the chance to play with another dog yet, so she has been enjoying trying to play with Duck. She tries so hard to keep up with him lol
Day Train Chester: Distractions
Chester really rocked it in this video. We did a little walking, but then worked on responding to other cues like sit, down, and leave it with distractions. You can see he wants to say hi to each person passing by, but chooses to focus back on me instead of going to say hi.
We really focused on not saying hi to people and focusing on leaving them instead. If someone were to ask to say hi thats one thing, but he also needs to learn that not everyone wants to say hi.
Day Train Chester: Walking
In the garden section, I let Chester sniff and explore. He got to lead the walk and choose where to go. This allowed him time to take things in at his own pace.
Day Train Chester: Loose Leash Walking
Chester working on his walking in Lowes. We initially started down isles with no people and worked our way up to busier isles. He was such a good boy!
Day Train Mac: Come
Today we worked out front on his recalls. Mac will on occasion run out front and not come back. I had him on a 30ft long line and worked on calling him away from the street and having him walk back towards the backyard. He did very well!
Day Train Mac: Door Manners
Mac does so well sitting and staying at the front door!
Day Train Mac: Place
Mac jumps into his bed almost every time when we are working on his place lol. He’s just too cute!
Board and Train Chester: Place
Chester did a great job staying on his mat with distractions present. There were two cats out, my dog moving around, and me moving from different positions like sitting to standing and walking by.
Board and Train Chester: Loose Leash Walking
A bit later I brought Duck out as a distraction while we worked on walking. Chester again did such a great job! He walked nicely next to me with Duck following behind us. I also rewarded him for choosing to disengage with Duck and check in with me.
Board and Train Chester: Loose Leah Walking
After we did Look at That, we did some loose leash walking past the machines. He kept focus on me most of the time but did check them out a couple of times as we got closer.
