Tina S Howard, MA, LPC-S

Tina S Howard, MA, LPC-S Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential therapy in which clients learn about themselves and others through hands on activities with the horse.

The focus is on human skills, not horse skills. Specific treatment goals are identifies but sessions are process focused. Activities can be designed to create metaphors for "real life," with sessions structured and facilitated to address the reasons clients came for therapy. Activities can be designed to work on relationships and emotional regulation by developing a healthy relationship with the horse.

Father, you know how prone we are to fear. You have told us time and again to “not be afraid “and yet we struggle with fear. Remind us that You have placed Your own Spirit inside of us. You are always with us, to guide and comfort. Teach us not to fear.

Seeking therapy doesn’t mean you lack faith—it means you’re taking steps toward healing, just as God desires for us. The Bible encourages us to seek wise counsel and support when we face challenges.
• Proverbs 11:14: "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety."
• Galatians 6:2: "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
• Ecclesiastes 4:9-10: "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up."
Jesus Himself is called the Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6), and while He provides ultimate comfort, He also places people in our lives—like therapists—to help guide us through practical steps toward healing. Therapy can be a tool God uses to bring clarity, healing, and wholeness.
You can trust Jesus for your spiritual foundation and still seek help from a therapist for emotional and mental health, knowing both work hand in hand for your overall well-being.

As we celebrate the Christmas season, I want to take a moment to reflect on the message of hope and love that the birth of Jesus brings to the world. For many, this time of year is a reminder of the light that can shine even in the darkest of times. The story of Jesus' birth offers us a powerful example of compassion, grace, and the promise of renewal—values that can inspire us on our own journeys toward healing and growth.
I know that for some, the holiday season can bring both joy and difficulty, and I want to acknowledge the courage and strength you've shown throughout your journey. Healing is a process, and just like the humble birth of Jesus, growth often happens quietly and steadily over time.
This Christmas, I hope you find moments of peace and connection—whether through reflection, rest, or time spent with loved ones. May the spirit of this season remind you that you are never alone, that there is always hope, and that your worth is immeasurable.
Wishing you a Christmas filled with the peace and joy that comes from knowing you are loved, valued, and supported. May the new year bring you continued strength, growth, and healing.
With warm wishes and gratitude,
Tina
