Dear Modesto Family Pet Clients,

It is with bittersweet emotions that I am announcing my departure from Modesto Family Pet. As of February 28, 2025, I will be leaving my position to pursue further professional development.

It has been a great privilege to care for your furry family members during my time here. I deeply appreciate the trust you placed in me and the wonderful relationships we have built. I will deeply miss being a part of such a great veterinary practice. I will be leaving with so many warm memories.

I leave you in good hands with remarkable doctors and staff, as I entrust them in continuing to provide your pets with the compassionate care you expect. I assure you that they will provide the same excellent level of care you’ve come to expect from our practice.

Periodontal disease, known as dental disease, is one of the most common health issues in dogs. Just as with humans, plaque and tartar can build up on dogs’ teeth. As it accumulates it can get under the gumline, causing gingivitis, an inflammation of the gums.

As the plaque, tartar, and gingivitis progress, bacteria in the mouth begin to break down the support structures for the teeth, a process known as periodontitis. This leads to further buildup of “bad” bacteria in the mouth that cause death of the tissues. These “bad” bacteria also produce sulfur compounds that lead to bad breath.

Just as humans, dental cleanings are performed on pets to help maintain a healthy mouth.
