We recently had the pleasure of boarding 2 Airedale terriers, an uncommon breed. These terriers originated from Yorkshire England in the mid 1800s. Despite their large size, they were bred for hunting large river rats and are occasionally used for bird retrieval. Even though they are the largest terrier breed, they very much still have terrier tendencies. These dogs are known to be resilient, confident, and loyal. Like the popular poodle and poodle mixes, these dogs are also hypoallergenic and shed very little. Would you consider owning this breed?

Dislikes -
Lola and Everest are both large dogs, and even then, they are incredibly sweet and well-behaved. They are both fantastic off leash and love to play with other dogs. Even though Everest has megasophagus and has to be fed a little differently, he still has so much happiness in him. We love Lola and Everest!

Crane Muller
Nickname - Cray Cray
Breed - mix breed
Likes - his mom, his bed and other dogs
Dislikes - strangers, loud noises
Crane is one of our special guests. He would not do well in just any boarding kennel. This sweet boy is scared. He’s scared of strangers, loud noises, quick movements and life in general. He is lucky to have found a dog mom that loves him and encourages him to overcome his fears. They take regular visits to the dog park and other social situations and his mom is excellent at encouraging him to come out of his shell. She made certain that Fido’s Farm could handle Crane and his special needs before she decided to board him with us. Now, he is one of regulars. Next time you drop your pup off at Fido’s and see this little guy looking terrified in the corner, know that he is well loved and well cared for.

Waylon Lesieur
Nickname - wayway
Breed - American chocolate lab
Likes - playing with his friends, tennis balls, and the pond
Dislikes - when he’s not allowed to go swimming
Waylon is one of the most energetic and well-behaved dogs we board. He always gets along with others dogs, never gets upset, and has an excellent recall. Wayway will jump over any dog or obstacle to get his tennis ball and always does. We love Waylon and all his friends.

Lincoln Carroll
Nickname- Slinky Linky
Breed- Shih Tzu
Likes- his human mom and his puppy sisters, Londyn and Stella Louise
Dislikes- being surprised or loud noises (thunderstorms)
Lincoln is one of our special needs boarders. His family rescued him from a bad breeding situation which led to him being born blind and mentally handicapped. But this spunky little boy doesn’t let it slow him down. He is just as sassy as his fur sisters and loves being spoiled by his mom. It takes a little time for Lincoln to warm up to new folks but he definitely has worked his way into our hearts here on the farm.

Ronin Vanderbilt
Nickname- Big Ole Bear
Breed- St Bernard
Likes- BIG drooly kisses
Dislikes- he has a sensitive stomach and can’t have treats
Ronin really is a big ole teddy bear! He loves to stay at the farm and find stinky things. He loves to snuggle after finding something extra smelly. He has a little brother named Leon who 1/4 his size but he is always careful and gentle with him. Ronin is a joy to be around and will bring a smile to your face. 💕🐶😀

Louis Clark
Nickname - Loubert
Breed - standard black poodle
Likes - people, playing with other dogs
Dislikes - when big dogs pick on his sister, Saga.
Louis really is the top dog. He is great with teaching young dogs and is the best at making gentle corrections for unruly behavior. He is super sweet, loves some good pets, and is excellent for his baths and grooming appointments.

Did you know there are 2 types of Labrador retriever? English labs, like Georgia, have a calm, easy-going demeanor. On the other hand, American labs, like Waylon, are more active and energetic. The best way to tell the difference is how they look. The English Lab has a shorter, stockier build while the American Lab has a more lean, taller look to them. Both American and English labs originate from Newfoundland and were bred as gun dogs to retrieve fish and other prey after it had been shot. Which is why almost every lab LOVES water. Labs come in black, yellow, and chocolate, and here at Fidos Farm, we love them all! What breed should we talk about next?

Breed - Merle Australian Shepard
Likes - water, playing with toys, swimming with her friends
Dislikes - when playtime is over
Sky is one of the gorgeous dogs that board with us. She loves to play with her friends but will take any chance she has to cool off in the pond, pool, or water trough.

While our dogs may love the sun, it’s important to protect against heat stroke and heat exhaustion. At Fidos Farm, we limit activities in the afternoon and extend them in the morning and night to make sure your dogs have the best time possible. Allowing for clean bowls of water at all times is also crucial. For the dogs that like it, like Shadow here, we also place a small pool in the play yards to help cool them down and have fun! What precautions are you taking this summer?

Breed - Merle dachshund
Likes - small squeaky toys, any and all food, and his little brother, Rollin
Dislikes - strangers, the blow dryer
Roadie is Fido’s famous. He boards with us often. Roadie arrives in style in his mom’s Porsche Boxter and often dons a fabulous wardrobe. He may give you a hard time when you first meet him but once he knows you, you’ll appreciate his rizz.

Georgia is Fido’s famous. She boards with us often. Many times she is the first to greet our new guests. Her sweet demeanor and friendly attitude makes her a favorite here on the farm. We know that if you get a chance to meet her, you will love her too.

Daisy is available for adoption! 🌼🌼🌼 Her rescuers have fallen in love but are moving and will be unable to keep her. She is very sweet and loving, plays well with other dogs, house trained and overall a great girl. She is initially shy with people but does not take long to warm up. She will need daily brushing and trip to the groomer every 6 weeks. She is currently unspayed but has an appointment in June for the surgery. Who is ready to open their home to this beautiful, sweet girl?

If you are looking for a new fur baby, McDuffie County Animal Services is hosting their Grand Reopening tomorrow from 10am-4pm. Meet some of their dogs and cats that need a home, eat some good food, shop the vendors and visit our table. We will be handing out goodies for our 4 legged friends and we will be raffling off a basket full of treats for you and your pups. Proceeds will go to McDuffie County Animal Services. Bring your pet and have them microchipped for free!

We have great news! The two puppies that showed up on the farm have been adopted! They are currently on the way to their new home in North Dakota! We couldn’t be more excited for these two! Thank you Nicole and Martin for making the long trip to South Carolina and for giving these guys a great home. Have a wonderful life Pepper and Ender!! 💕🐶
