Did you know that training your dog can help provide physical and mental stimulation?

Dogs need both physical and mental stimulation. Not only does training provide a form of physical exercise, it provides mental stimulation which has been shown to help reduce stress and anxiety, improve resilience, strengthen bonds, and prevent problem behaviors.

At Legacy Dog Training we believe training should be a fun experience for both you and your dog. We have a few spots left in our next course, and we'd love to meet your pup!

Did you know that research shows that students can maintain or improve where they are academically from one school year to the next by simply reading over the summer? Did you also know that reading to a therapy dog has been shown to increase self-confidence as well as reading and comprehension skills? WOW!

Legacy Therapy Dogs Oliver, Benjamin, Sully and Mo spent their summer helping the kids in Moline's Washington Elementary's summer school program! The Legacy Therapy Dogs were onsite twice a week from June to August in order to give each child an opportunity to practice their reading skills.

We are so proud of the work these Washington Patriots put in over the summer and we hope they have a great school year!

Did you know that training your dog can have several benefits for both you and your pup?

Improved Behavior:
Training can help address behavioral issues such as barking, chewing, and jumping. It teaches dogs acceptable behaviors and how to interact appropriately with people and other animals.

Enhanced Communication:
Training can improve the communication between you and your dog. Your dog will learn to understand and respond to your commands, making daily interactions smoother and more enjoyable.

Stronger Bond:
Training your pup can help build a stronger bond between you and your dog. Working together towards goals fosters mutual respect and understanding.

Legacy Therapy Dogs Sully, Mo, Oliver, Chase and Benjamin loved getting to meet the staff at the Palmer Chiropractic Clinics during a recent staff training day!

Did you know that petting a therapy dog is a great way to lower anxiety, reduce blood pressure and can even increase communication in the workplace? Wow! As an added bonus, Oliver provided pressure therapy to several of the staff. Oliver's pressure therapy applies gentle soothing pressure though his weight. This promotes relaxation and helps emotional well-being!

As summer programs start to come to end, we want to extend a thank you to the Moline Parks and Recreation Department for having the Legacy Therapy Dogs attend several summer camp sessions this year!

To start the summer, we did a brief presentation about therapy dogs and the important work they do and then the kids had the opportunity to meet our wonderful therapy dogs!
On another visit, we brought in books so the kids could read a short story to our pups! This was a great way for the kids to practice their reading skills over the summer.
We also brought in coloring pages, and challenged the kids to draw their best version of their favorite Legacy Therapy Pup! We got to see some wonderful artwork that day!
To end the summer, we answered any questions the kids had, and then they got to hang out and relax with our pups. What a great way to relax on a beautiful summer day!
