Join us on today's edition of "The Adventure's of Garbage," where we'll learn fun and exciting ways to exercise!
Did you know that play and activity feeders are great ways to increase exercise and mental stimulation? Playing with toys and activity feeders will bring out our pet's natural tendencies to hunt, chase and dig. Activity and puzzle feeders can be used with treats or regular kibble as well!
In the video below, Garbage shows how a puzzle feeder can be fun and rewarding (and as owners, we get to brag about how smart he is). To help increase interest in toys, you can rotate toys in and out of circulation and for cats, you can store toys in a bag with catnip to increase interest.
Here is an article on some great DIY Puzzle feeders if you would like to give it a try at home:

Jumping for joy
Today on "The Adventures of Garbage" we will learn about the importance of something called "baseline bloodwork."
When we first adopted Garbage, we elected to run our most thorough in house bloodwork panel for him. We wanted to make sure he wasn't at risk for things like diabetes or kidney disease, etc.
Luckily, his bloodwork came back looking great! Moving forward, we can recheck his bloodwork every 6 months to a year and see if any of the values are changing in comparison to the last check. This will allow us to see if there are small changes happening over time, which can help the doctors catch health concerns sooner. An early diagnosis of health issues also means starting treatment or medical management sooner - which can help our pets live longer, happier lives!
Even if your pet is in perfect health now - it's always a good idea to consider talking with your veterinarian about checking bloodwork. Most of our PAW plans also include bloodwork for this reason! In the meantime, we'll just be over here jumping for joy that our boy is happy and healthy - please enjoy this video of Garbage and one of our Lead Technicians, Ashley, doing just that!
