**About Mountain Feist**
-Originally bred by the earliest American settlers in the Appalachian Mountains to fill a very specific role, Mountain Feists of today have retained much of the traits and natural ability desired in the breeds formation. The main focus being hunting small game,such as rabbits, raccoon, squirrel, rats, and other vermin. This being said, Mountain Feist have a very high natural prey drive. Effortlessly utilizing the same attention desired in hunting to watch over their owner's home, property and family. .
-Mountain Feist make great family or companion dogs. They are extremely affectionate with their family members. They do well in homes with children. They create strong bonds with their family and are weary of strangers in their domain. They are very playful, and can be very high-spirited, therefore need a understanding and patient owner.
-Mountain Feist are small to medium in size, ranging up to approximately 22 inches tall and weighing 10-30 pounds.
-Mountain Feist have short smooth coats. Some may shed more than others, but require very little for grooming. Coat colors can vary drastically. Some colors possible but not limited to are: tricolor, red and white, red, black, black and tan, blue and white, red brindle, merle, merle and fawn.
-Mountain Fiest ears and tails can vary dog to dog. It tends to be more of a preference breeder to breeder, owner to owner. Flopped ears, straight "prick" ears, and cocked ears are all permissible. Tails can be long, natural bobtail, or 3/4 dock.
-Mountain Feist are very energetic, thus need to be with an active family or given a job to perform.
-Mountain Feist require positive reinforcement methods of training to get the most out of the breed. Aggressive training tacits have a negative impact with the Mountain Feist and may result in a timid dog.
