Animal shelter for the animals of Berkeley County. The county is passionate about the care and well-being of animals.

Berkeley County assumed responsibility of the animal shelter February 1, 2017, previously operated by Doc Williams SPCA. With an ever-growing number of animals in need, we need continued support and assistance from the public. We encourage people in the community to get involved, through donations and volunteer work. The purpose of the Berkeley Animal Center page is to present in

formation of interest to our residents, businesses, employers, employees and visitors. You must come to the shelter to identify your pet.

Reclaims are done on Mondays from 9:00-1:00 & Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00-5:00. Please bring a leash when reclaiming dogs.

Join us Saturday, November 16, at Cypress Gardens for Emergency Services Day!

Meet Berkeley County first responders, emergency services, and more. Be sure to also check out live demonstrations. PLUS food trucks and adoptable animals from Berkeley Animal Center will be on site!

Emergency Services Day coincides with the park’s Free Saturday event for Berkeley County residents. The park is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with last admission at 4 p.m.).

Meet Bubba!

Bubba is 4 years old and looking for his forever farm! While we don’t have any history on him, he seems to be friendly with other farm species! He has been gelded and has up to date vaccines and coggins! We do recommend a farm with older children as he can be shy around strangers and a little protective of his pasture with humans. Bubba will be available first come, first serve!

Bubba’s adoption fee is $500.

We've got the perfect one! ❤ MEET RUBY! Ruby is a sweet and gentle 5-year-old hound that's been waiting almost a month for someone to choose her. She's only 47 lbs. and is hoping someone is coming to scoop her up soon!

❤ Hank is still looking for a home ❤

This sweet boy is our second-longest shelter resident. He's been with us since September 22, but he's hoping his forever family is coming soon!

Hank is 4 years and 60 lbs. He is super loving, dog friendly, and would make a great addition to any home.

❗️ Our longest shelter resident - JAKE

Jake has been with us for more than two months now. During his time in our system, he has been through so much and we are proud of the progress he has made!

2-year-old Jake first came to us dragging his back legs and unable to walk due to an injury. One of our amazing fosters took him in and helped him recover! He is now a happy-go-lucky boy who can walk on his own and is a pleasure to be around.

Jake is a friendly boy who's ready to be in a forever home! He is housebroken and dog-friendly, but of course we always recommend you bring your dog with you to make sure they are a perfect match ❤
