‼️‼️PSA: Desunking that actually works‼️‼️
If your dog is skunked DO NOT rinse with water! First apply a thick coat of the Orginal Head and Shoulders shampoo. Scrub dog dry with shampoo for 15 mins. Then rinse with water. (Don’t forget the face and ears as they are probably the worst) I also like to use the Lillian Ruff blueberry whiting shampoo as it smells soooo good! But just an extra touch.
If your beloved dog betrays you and does a frantic lap around the house drooling skunk slobber all over the house then wipe and mop everything with 1 gal hot water, 1 cup white vinegar and a few drops of peppermint oil. Let dry and the smell is neutralize.
You can also make a peppermint spray, 1cup warm water and 10-20 drops of peppermint oil. Spray rugs, carpet and furniture.
**note: some ppl say peppermint isn’t safe for dogs even when diluted but me and everyone else I know who has used it never had any issues. So maybe for senior, the sick or puppies don’t use peppermint.
If your yard has become a reoccurring hangout place for all the local sunks, use 8 ounces of castor oil and 1 gallon of water to spray the perimeter of your yard. Keep dogs and cats away until it is dry.
