➡️ I have been the rider who is looking for a saddle that fits my horse AND me.
➡️ I have been the trainer trying to make my 1 saddle fit every horse....and why not?
➡️ I have been the instructor frustrated that my student's saddle keeps sliding off to the side. Or has a horse that takes 40 minutes of "warm-up" to get a good 5 minutes of riding🤦‍♀️
➡️I have been the rider that nags my horse to get going, only to learn that my saddle's imbalance has been blocking the freedom in his gaits.

It takes a village to make this horse dream come true. I would love to be the saddle fitter in your village.

I look forward to helping you and your horse find your optimum comfort through saddle fit so both of you can work together as a team.

Thank you, Silver Tail Farm, for inviting me to come to the Twin Rivers Summer Soltice show. It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed visiting friends and making new connections. Thank you to everyone that stopped by to ask questions and sit in a saddle.

To the competitors and their support teams: YOU ROCK! You make horse showing for those around you fun and full of support. Here are the things I heard and saw:

🌟 "The outdoor arenas are so peaceful. Nothing triggers my horse."

🌟"You are a God send. That little tutorial you gave me really helped." (Rider learned how to braid)

💪 Leon McCurdy helping with the lunging area.

🌟 "Breathe! You did not get a 40%. I saw your ride. There is no way you got a 40. Either somebody made a mistake, or it's not done being added up yet." (Sure enough, she didn't get a 40)

🌟🌟🌟THANK YOU NANCY BRANDENBURG FOR BRINGING YOUR SADDLE TO BE FLOCKED. 🌟🌟🌟

See you all next month at Heart Of The Valley.

🎶I CELEBRATE YOU!🎶
I know the hours you've put in.... I've been there
I know you didn't buy that outfit because your horse needed a new blanket... I've been there
I know you didn't see your friends the last time because you were going to a clinic to learn... I've been there
I know it's hard to choose which color saddle pad to buy 😉... I've been there

You know what you got instead? A big pay day! Your horse was a rock star. You rode the best ever. Or even better... you helped your horse when it was iffy so next time you both could be braver. You both knew what the other was thinking. There is more than one way to have connection 😊. I have been there.
It is a privilege to be on this journey with you. I celebrate it all with you.
Now let's celebrate together🥳🥳 I'm shining a light on this lovely rider and her horse. She is one of my clients. She has put in the work. Her horse found his brave side. He was obedient. She was skillful. They had a great test achieving a score of 64%+ 💃 A very good score! Congratulations to Kady and Yankee 🦄on a job well done

I want to tell you the story of how my dreams came true🪄

For as long as I can remember myself, I’ve had a dream of meeting .
I started horse riding when I was 4 and was lucky to visit Netherlands at 8 and that’s when I learned about Anky for the first time. I was closely following her ever since that.

After I turned 13 y.o. and started planning my adult life, the first thing I did was writing a letter to my role-model Anky with the question about the education I should get to be like her :) Honestly, I didn’t expect to get any responce, and you can only imagine how incredibly happy I was when I did receive an answer from my hero. 😊

In a few months, the russinan-Ukrainian war had started. My family and I were forced to flee. We didn’t have any plans, any understanding of where to go and what to do next. And my dream saved us. I learned that when no one has a plan, everyone follows the one who does have a plan. So, I persuaded my family to move to the Netherlands 🇳🇱.

Along the way, I wrote one more letter to Anky asking if she could accept me with my horse at her stable. And again, Anky was incredibly responsive, carrying, and kind. I was indescribably excited to get an answer from her: yes, you can come over😊

It’s another story of how we managed to rescue my horse from the Kyiv region during, probably, the most intense hostilities. I will omit that part(

I will never forget that first feeling when I met Anky Van Grunsven in person. She made me feel wellcome and comfortable within the first minutes of our acquaintance. The next day my horse arrived. Now he stays at Anky’s stable💕.

I want to thank you, Anky, for everything you have done and are doing for my horse and me❤️.
Thank you for all the support and your precious riding lessons❤️❤️❤️
That is a very valuable and unforgettable experience for me.

Today, more than ever, I believe - all the dreams do come true 🪄🪄🪄
So keep dreaming🪄

Are you looking for a saddle fitter? Now is the time to get on the schedule.

Does your saddle make the grade?
Are you wondering if your horse could be more comfortable?
How about you? Are you comfortable?
From my experience in riding in Albion Platinium Ultimas for the last 12 years, I can have both. My horse gives me his everything because the saddle fits him. It is balanced and level. I don't struggle to keep my position because the saddle isn't sliding off to one side or tilting me forward. I have a level and secure place to sit.
Make an appointment to do a test ride. Maybe it's time for a new saddle. If you have an Albion maybe it's time to get the flocking amended.
I am now scheduling appointments for demos, fitting and flocking.

This idea is really well explained. Learning to work with horses is not complicated, but it's not simple either. We have to learn all the different subtleties of communicating.
I have been to several training sessions with John Lyons. The first time he talked about choosing which kind of teacher I would I like to learn from:
Teacher A: slapped my knuckles everytime I got a wrong answer
Teacher B: made it more difficult to get the wrong answer which would encourage me to choose the right answer
With the right motivation we can move in a new direction
Happy riding!🦄

Pressure and discomfort- they currently have a bad reputation

Take a quick look around and it’s easy to see that people historically aren’t great at finding the center of extremes. We tend to go from one end of the spectrum to another, and use of pressure and discomfort in training is no different.

It wasn’t long ago, it was considered normal and fine to overload horses with pressure and use fear or pain to train. Questioning that mentality brought you criticism. Now, people are looking at horses for what they are - sentient beings deserving of respect.

But now, we have to be careful not to let the pendulum swing too far in the other direction. I often encounter folks who, through good intentions, are resistant to causing their horses any discomfort or thinking of the use of pressure as inherently bad. These folks often trade off momentary discomfort for the long term, and risk putting their horses on a path of stress and anxiety without sufficient skills to cope.

Pressure is a vague word- pressure can be anything from a feather light touch to pounding a nail in with a hammer. It is a gradient of feelings, who’s meanings are all vastly different depending on intent and delivery.

for folks to show up to a lesson, there is enough pressure to make them motivated. Internal pressure of the desire to learn, pressure of being out money for the lesson, pressure of a time they are expected to be at the barn and ready to ride. Without these pressures, many people would not maintain motivation or put in the effort to grow. Pressure does not have to be yelling, berating or threatening my students- if this amount of pressure was required, I would need to do some serious evaluation of myself and my relationship with my students.

Pressure and discomfort is what grows muscles and bones. Pressure is what is used to guide a dancing partner across the dance floor. Pressure is what massages sore and tight muscles into relaxation.

Pressure can also create tension, pain and fear - it is the thinking rider’s duty to use discretion, observe and apply pressure with a rational and empathetic mind frame.

But to avoid pressure altogether is to miss out on a rich language intuitive to all living things- and to deny or avoid preparing a horse for the pressure our physical being applies to a horse by simply existing. Everything in life takes some form of pressure. We can deny it, avoid it, or harness it to create a fluid, beautiful and real conversation with a horse.

It's that time for my horses to be wormed. I've had a few questions about which wormer to use. I chose this one because it includes eliminating tapeworms. Please remember, worm your horse where the dogs aren't likely to come in contact with it. This wormer particularly, is toxic to dogs. I will be worming my horses in their stalls.
