We just got a call from someone in Albany who found a severely abused cat very late last night. We are asking for donations to get her seen by the emergency vet this afternoon since there’s a lot going on with her. The caller said she had a collar on that was way to tight and was choking her when they found her. All the claws on her right front leg are gone, he said it looks like they’ve been ripped out. One of her eyes looks completely black, she has a pretty intense cough and she’s very skinny. We have a general vet appointment setup for her next Friday, it was the soonest our general vet could get her in, but we’d really like to get her seen sooner. Wilvet has an exam fee of $149 and anything extra would cost more. She will obviously need some kind of treatment so we are estimating it’ll be around $500 to get her seen and treated. Even if, by some miracle, it doesn’t end up being that much for this one appointment, she will need medication and follow up visits with our general vet. I’d like to clarify that donations will not determine whether or not she receives care, we will get her the care she needs regardless. It just helps us immensely to have the funding beforehand and allows us the freedom to do more than the bare minimum for her as soon as possible. I’ll post pictures when we have them.
You can donate on our website pawsandpumpkinsrescue.com/donate
We also have Venmo, CashApp, GoFundMe and PayPal so feel free to use whatever is most convenient for you 💜

Edit: Thank you to everyone who donated! We were able to get her seen by the vet last night and she’s been put on a few different medications. She has an ulcer on her left eye, she’s emaciated and her GI tract was empty so she’d clearly been starving for a while, she has an upper respiratory infection and a few missing claws. She had a slight fever at the vet so we didn’t start any vaccinations yesterday. It also seems like she has an old rib cage injury. She might’ve had a broken rib in the past but it seems to have healed now. Overall though, we thought it would be much worse with how the caller described her and we have confidence that she will make a full recovery over time. The vet agreed that it looked a lot like an abuse/neglect case and given how she reacted to kennels/crates just confirms our suspicions about that. She thankfully did not have a microchip or we’d be pressing charges. It’ll be a while until she fully recovers and is back to being fully healthy but for now, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated and helped us get her the care she needed as soon as possible. We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for helping us save their lives! 💜

Help make life better for our cats!We are a 501c3 non-profit cat rescue so we are largely donation run at this point. Without the kind contributions from people who have come to visit the cats, we wouldn’t be able to keep our doors open. If you are in a place where you are able to donate, anything...

We are determined to get out of our month to month slump that we’re stuck in right now and start rebuilding our emergency savings. On average, we spend roughly $4-5k a month on all our expenses so for our February goal, we are aiming to raise enough for March and April’s basic expenses so we can turn our attention back towards doing more rescue work. It will also give us some peace of mind to know that if we do have an emergency, we won’t be going into the red to get the cats the care they need. This is our biggest fundraising goal yet but we have complete faith in this wonderful community of cat lovers! We’ve made it through January, the hardest month of the year financially speaking, thanks to all of you so we are determined to keep pushing forward through this year. We’re also starting to think about future plans since we know we have to move at the end of this year so building our savings now to prepare for that will definitely help things go smoother during that transition, no matter where we end up going. We’ve got some exciting things planned for the upcoming months so stay tuned!

Nala is a sweet 2 year old German Shepherd mix who is up for adoption at SafeHaven Humane Society We took her out to the beach today for a Doggy Day Out. If you want to give a doggy a break from shelter life for a day, you can sign up to be a Doggy Day Out Foster on SafeHaven’s website. Even if, like me, you can’t foster a dog long term or even overnight, you can still give them a fun day adventure so they can get out of the shelter for a bit. We had a bit of a dramatic trip out there since another driver veered off the road and nearly flipped their car into us. Luckily SafeHaven gives doggy seat belt harness straps so she was perfectly safe in the back seat. We were able to safely maneuver out of the way and once the authorities got to the scene, we were back on our way to the beach. Nala enjoyed looking for rocks with me and attacking any suspicious ocean foam that came charging at us. I regret to inform that she does not take after for stompies. She did love running around on the beach with me though and after about an hour and a half of beach exploring, she was ready to take a nap in the car on the way back to SafeHaven. She was great on the leash and she was very friendly with everyone we met on our adventure. She liked being in the car and was such a good girl the whole way there and back, even with the noisy scary sirens and trucks that came right up next to us. If you’re looking for a gentle, sweet, energetic companion, Nala might be the perfect addition to your family. Go visit her at SafeHaven Humane Society in Tangent!

We are halfway to our goal! We have 10 more days so we still have time to raise enough to cover all of next month’s expenses. Thank you so much to everyone who’s donated and/or shared our posts!

There’s still plenty of time to order your Valentine’s Day cards with custom keychains designed by the cats! Remember to order yours before February 10th if you’re picking them up or February 1st if you want them shipped! Also keep in mind that the shipping speeds shown when you order aren’t always an accurate indicator of when you’ll actually receive the item. If you requested customization and/or a specific cat as your designer, it’ll take a few more days to get it ready. The kitties want to take their time to make sure everything is perfect before sending it off to you. They’re strict quality control inspectors!

We still have 13 days left to raise enough to cover all our expenses next month! We are so grateful to those of you who have donated and/or shared already and we are steadily making our way to our goal. With only 13 days left until next month, we are feeling the pressure to get enough funding together to pay all our bills. If you can’t give financially, we also take donations of bottles and cans to turn in or you can donate via your online Bottle Drop account after turning in cans yourself if you live far away. Don’t forget, even if you can’t donate, sharing our posts, leaving a comment to boost our post and telling people about us is just as helpful as donating! Personal side note: People who have been donating online that want to stay anonymous have been getting creative with how the enter their name in our payment system on our website. Unfortunately there isn’t an anonymous feature online so you have to put a name in but people have been so clever about putting fake names in and some of them have really given me a good laugh when I see them. If anyone knows how to add an anonymous setting online for website donations, I’d love to learn how to set that up. Until then, my selfish request is to continue thinking of clever names to put in since I enjoy seeing them 😄

Careful of this person. I’m pretty sure they’re a scammer. They got the picture from my post where it had all the info in the description, ignored all the info and ignored all the prompts I gave them to go to the website and order there. I have them blocked now. Ivonne Santz is their name here on fb. Not sure if they’re local or not but everyone just be careful. Be safe, don’t give your info to people like this.

The cats have been working very hard to get all of your Valentine’s Day gifts ready and they’re available to order on our website now! Custom keychains, designed by the cats and made with the help of humans (they needed someone with opposable thumbs 😄) are only available from now until February 10th. Each order will be designed by one of our cats. They pick out the paint colors, what finishing touches they want (glitter or gold paper) and move the paint around through a clear bag. The human assistants put them all together and package them up for them.
Each order comes with a custom keychain, a limited edition Valentine’s Day sticker featuring one or more of the cats and a personalized note from the cat that designed your keychain.
Check out our previous post on our page to see Willow making her keychain.
Order yours today and either pick it up in store or have it shipped directly to you!

Thackery and Oreo’s mom sent me pictures of them getting comfortable in their new home. She said they’re already settling in very well and they love bird watching from the window seat she put up for them. I couldn’t be happier to know that they’re doing well there! I’m so proud of them for finding their forever home!

Swipe to get a wink from a puppy 😉
These 6 cuties were rescued from the waremart parking lot today. Someone was sitting outside the entrance selling them for $10 each. They were in a plastic tote box sitting out in 40 degree weather for over an hour, every one of them had mud stuck to their fur and I couldn’t just leave them there. I got them from the lady selling them, even got her name and phone number too and, with the help of Tiffany Misery-Mayhem from Mayhem Mutts, found a rescue that will be able to take them in tomorrow afternoon. Huge thanks to Tiffany and for helping us get these cuties the care they need. I feel like this goes without saying but please, if you find yourself the owner of an accidental litter, take them to an actual rescue, don’t try to sell them for $10 in a grocery store parking lot. Chances are, at least some of them will end up in the wrong hands and they don’t deserve that. Better yet, spay or neuter your pets to prevent these “accidental litters” in the first place. I’m so thankful for this amazing community of rescuers who came together to help these puppies. I couldn’t have done it alone so thank you Tiffany and thank you for all your help! Now, with that said, I’m going to crash for the night. 😴

Happy Sunday everyone! If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that this year will bring a lot of changes to our rescue. One of those changes will eventually be our physical location due to the fact that our lease only goes through the end of this year (December 2025) since the owner has plans to demolish this entire building in 2026. Our plan is to fundraise enough to buy either a small piece of land and build on it or buy a property that already has a building on it and just modify it to meet our needs. Now, we know this is a long shot but since we are a 501c3, donating ownership of property can be used as a tax write off. We are reaching out to you, our amazing community to see if there’s anyone out there who would either like to work with us on a partial ownership donation with a smaller purchase price or, if someone wants to just donate their property, we’d be forever grateful for either of those options. We know this is a lot to ask so if we can’t find something this way, we’ll likely be renting another space at the end of this year. It’s not ideal to take that risk since it’s hard to find landlords that allow the cats in the building and rent a space that works for our needs. We’re also just trying to avoid rent hopping around to avoid people getting confused on where we are or where we went. This doesn’t have to happen anytime soon, we just need a new space before the end of the year so we have time to make that happen. Thank you so much to all of our donors and supporters! We couldn’t do this without you!

After 444 days with us, Thackery and Oreo finally went to their furrever home this morning. It’s oddly quiet in here now and I’m not entirely sure what to do with all this free time now that I don’t have to constantly check to see what mischief Thackery is getting into but I couldn’t be happier for them. They’ve gone to a home that couldn’t be more perfect for them and I know they’ll do great once they settle in there. It’s been a long time coming but they’re finally getting the perfect home they deserve. I’m so proud of my boys and how far they came since we first took them in. Thank you to their new mom! I hope you enjoy every second with those loving big boys 💜
