Soaring With 2nd Chances

Soaring with 2nd Chances is a feline rescue currently working in central IA. Most of our cats range in age from 2-13 years old. The need continues to grow.

While kittens come along on occasion, our focus is primarily on placing adult cats who tend to be overlooked in shelters. OUR HISTORY:

SOARING WITH 2ND CHANCES was established in 2001 and is currently run by a mother and daughter team. They saw an unmet need and have opened their hearts to provide shelter, food, medical care, love and a second chance to hundreds of stray, abandoned and abused cat

s in central Iowa. Their goal is to find stable, loving homes for these wonderful animals. To date, they have helped find homes for over 500 cats! OUR MISSION:

Our primary mission is to rescue, shelter and provide medical care for as many abused and/or stray cats as we are physically and financially able to care for. Our ultimate goal, and one we actively work to achieve, is to find each animal in our care a forever loving home they so deeply deserve. We also provide educational information to those who adopt from us, as well as any other interested persons, about appropriate and responsible pet ownership. We do all of this in hope of creating a greater awareness of the mistreatment and
abandonment problems that animals face in our society. OUR FUNDING:

Today, all of the care and services provided by Soaring With 2nd Chances is funded solely through donations, adoption fees. We have no paid staff, only volunteers! We also depend on the generosity of several local veterinary doctors who appreciate our efforts and often provide medical care for our cats at reduced fees.

Akira and her sister Mia are currently in foster care awaiting the purr-fect family! Akira is a beautiful black cat with a few white hairs on her chest and the prettiest eyes. She loves to flop over on her side for petting and will "talk" to you to let you know she's ready for more attention. Mia has a smoke coat, which makes her rather unique. Her fur is black in the ends, but underneath is a silvery white. Pictures hardly do it justice as it's truly stunning! She's a bit more shy than her sister, but she's super sweet once she warms up! Both girls are spayed and up to date on vaccinations and are FIV & FELV negative. They both also love to head butt you when they're being petted :) Just their little way of saying, "I love you"! Akira and Mia are settling into foster care and will have all sorts of new pictures coming soon! Akira is already warming up and is such a love bug. Mia is going to take a little longer, but the best things in life are worth waiting for :)

We need fosters! If you love cats and want to help, fostering is a wonderful chance for you to do both! Food is taken care of. You provide, water, litter, and plenty of TLC. Being in a typical home to foster helps our kitties adjust easier when they get to their adoptive homes. It also gives us more insight into their personalities so we are able to help match them with the best family possible for them. If you live in the central Iowa area and are willing to foster a cat or two, please let us know. Thank you!

We have some AMAZING news! Our three kittens, Jasper, Jasmine and Henrietta have been approved for adoption TOGETHER!!! Their potential adoptive family came for a meet and greet last weekend and decided they wanted all three. Today, all three are being fixed and in one more week, they'll be going HOME! It's incredibly rare for three to be adopted together so we weren't optimistic about these babies getting to stay together. However, the perfect adopters came along and provided a miracle
