I can't put into words how much I love this horse. I'm finally learning how to sit back and keep her in front of my leg, and she's learning how to stretch through her back and down into the bridle. She got to pop over a little crossrail as a reward for being so good on the flat. Look at her go π
A clip from our lesson with @cotiheventing this afternoon! I'm dealing with some back issues (dislocated rib and pinched nerves in my lower back/right hip) so it was a rough ride for me, but Piper was such a star! She felt amazing and we are really starting to figure it out. So glad to have found a great trainer! π

Piper continues to amaze me day after day! This was our first ride in North Carolina, only three days after her arrival! Not ONE naughty baby moment. Walk, trot, canter with a very willing attitude! By far one of our best rides together. π
Piper has the right idea when it comes cooling down in this heat! How are your horses handling the temps this summer? βπ―
Here's a video of what Piper and I worked on today! Some work in the german marginale and a more forward trot! She's such a lazy filly. It's a real struggle to get her moving sometimes, especially while in correct carriage. Thankfully, the martingale helps alleviate the pressure of releasing quick enough when she behaves, and I can focus on keeping her moving! Every day we get better, and I have to remember to take it one day at a time. π
It's not every day that your three year old filly lets you cruise around on her bareback! She's a truly special horse π
Piper progress video! She is really starting to soften, her cadence is evening out, and her stops and backs are really improving! I'm so incredibly pleased with how things are going! π
Cantering under saddle! She's picking up both leads, and much more responsive to pressure! I'm very happy with our progress! :)
Piper got some more work on this gloomy day! She was feeling a bit froggy at the beginning, but as soon as I stepped into the saddle she was good as gold! We worked on getting her feet moving a little bit while I was on her back and she did great! Steering will be next on the list ;)
I did some more work with Piper today, worked on hip engagement in the saddle. She's not nearly as comfortable with me on her right side, so that'll be something to keep working on! But overall, I'm really happy with her progress!
