For those of you that may not have been advised yet you will not be able to carry any deer to South Carolina processors or taxidermist unless the deer are quartered with no spinal cord or neck. This means you can take backstraps, shoulders and hind quarters to the processor in cooler. If you take your deer from NC to SC for processing check with your provider to see if they will take cooler deer. I have spoken with Evans processing and he will be taking NC deer that are properly quartered. Also check with your taxidermist if located in SC about taking your deer there from NC. They will make arrangements to get your deer caped out (removed from the skull) and skull plate cleaned so they can take it back to SC. We will still be taking your SC deer if you will make arrangements with us to get your deer properly caped in SC so it can be brought to NC. Regardless what we think this is the law. No I don't like it but have had to deal with it for several years with clients that hunt out of state. The reason for this new law in SC is because of a positive case of CWD found in NC which now makes it a CWD positive state. If you have any questions I will be glad to try to answer them if you want to call or pm me. Have a great day and season coming!
