Meet the illustrious Natasha ✨✨ This sweet 5-year-old tabby is already spayed and searching for a new home. Natasha's piercing, smokey gray eyes are the first thing you’ll notice, followed by her stunning white socks on each paw and her beautiful striped coat. Once her shyness fades, her endearing personality dazzles everyone she meets. Natasha loves attention and generously shares her sweetness. She enjoys dry food and has a fondness for cat fountains!

Natasha gets along wonderfully with both humans and dogs, but she prefers not to be around other cats. This is just as well because she thrives on attention and affection!

Introducing Lily, a beautiful gray and white domestic long-haired cat looking for her forever home! This charming girlie is strictly an indoor cat because she is a tripod, missing her back right leg. However, that doesn't stop her from running and playing!

Logan, a sleek short-haired seal point, and Asher, a majestic long-haired smoke gray tabby, are both neutered males and inseparable companions. Both gentlemen are also declawed on their front two paws, making them strictly indoor cats only. We're looking to add to our team!

We are looking for a full-time Animal Care Attendant. Job Duties include but are not limited to:

Daily cleaning of all areas of the shelter
o Moving cats/kittens so rooms and kennels can be cleaned
o Removal of cat waste
o Cleaning/Disinfecting litter pans
o Providing food and water for all cats
o Replacing bedding
o Sweeping/Mopping
o Laundry
o Removing Trash
o Handling/restraining cats for treatment as necessary
Other duties as assigned!

Applicants may be required to lift items as heavy as 50lbs. Previous experience is a plus, but not required. Must be able to work weekends and some holidays. Must be 18 or older.
To apply, pick up an application at our shelter during business hours (Tuesday-Saturday 12:00-6:00pm) and return the completed application with a copy of your resume, or scan in the completed application with your resume and email both to: [email protected] – make sure the subject line says “Animal Care Attendant Position”.

Yesterday, our shelter director took sweet Kermit to KNOE 8 News to talk about our new Ten Lives Forever Foster Program!

The Ten Lives Forever Foster program is designed to give cats who have medical needs and/or senior cats a chance at their forever home! River Cities has several cats who require various ongoing medical treatment - things from prescription diets to daily meds to being incontinent and needing diapers. Because of these diagnosis, these cats have a much harder time finding a home.

The way this program works is simple. Approved forever fosters bring a cat home, and make them a part of your family. The medical aspect, up to and including annual vaccines, emergency visits, prescriptions, and special food diets, are covered by the shelter. As a no-kill shelter, cats are with us for their lives, or until they get adopted. We would be covering those costs whether or not they were in the shelter, and by placing these cats in forever foster homes, it frees up space in the shelter to save more lives, as well as giving these babies a family!

This is different from an adoption in the sense that River Cities still maintains legal ownership of the animal, but for all intents and purposes, the cat is now a member of your family!

We've already placed THREE cats in their forever foster homes, and we'll highlight their journeys throughout the upcoming week! If you're interested in becoming a forever foster parent, email [email protected] and we can send you more information!

Meet Kermit! He’s about a year old and he’s got a few medical issues, but he’s full of love. River Cities Humane Society for Cats started a program to help guys like this get a “fur-ever” home. A few medically-needy cats have already found a home through it!

He loves tuna, treats, and crinkle balls, but he is picky about the cats he likes to hang out with. After he is done with play time he is usually ready for some quality snuggle time. We are pleased to introduce these beautiful 2 month old kittens that are available for adoption! Their names are Wyll, Gale, Astarian, Karlach, Shadowheart and Halsin.
