Last year when the deck was redone, I cut out all the old knockout roses...all but a very young pink bush, that hardle bloomed last season. I'm so glad I saved it cause look how beautiful it is this year.

Breeding is HARD. There's a lot more to it than throwing mom and dad together & then playing with Last night was the first time I've slept more than an hour in 5 days. This was fine at birth, but a few days later was having trouble being upright, was twisting into a "u" and screaming all the time. This meant she wasn't able to nurse, cuddle, any of the things she should be. So for 5 days I took care of her. She was often tucked in my cleavage ( kept her warm and "upright") since eating wasn't possible she was every couple of hours and got meds. It appears she had an inner ear infection and I'm thrilled to say, she's upright, unfurled and again. I, on the other hand, am a wreck. Truly had 5 hours of sleep total the first 3 days...then was overtired and couldn't at all the last 2. My head is wonky, I'm forgetting things, got the spins but it was all when you can save a Now, I'm going to blissfully take a Nap.

I'm beyond excited... I recently neutered and placed Carson... daddy to some of my fave including and Dolly. It's been a long time, since placing a has broken my heart so badly. I've been watching Kissy, as I'd had her in with him awhile back, but she's only ever had two litters...just has a hard time getting pregnant. Well, I'm over the moon to say not only is she pregnant, she's REALLY pregnant. ( other two litters were 2 kittens each) I had actually been looking for a for her as well...as I didn't think I'd get another baby from her. Fingers crossed all goes well and I'll soon have Roly poly ❤️

I have two lovely adult girls who are ready to retire. Monroe ( ) is 6 1/2 She is queen of my house. Monroe loves attention and is still very playful. Lucy is 2 1/2 and an in your face kitty. She loves everyone, including my dogs. They are healthy, loving girls who get along well and can go alone or together. They will be UTD on vaccines and altered prior to leaving

There's a side to breeding that too many people don't understand. people say things like, "oh you're so lucky you make $ playing with / all day" is so much more. I have due. For me, that means up every 2 hours around the clock to check on momma. Today marks a week of interrupted sleep & working my job around my mommas. Lenny started spotting 2 weeks ago, worrying me & with good reason. She delivered 2 but one was much smaller ( partial placenta abruption) & even with 32 hours of round the clock care - heat, fluids, oxygen, tube feedings I lost him. I've got 40 years of experience, but sometimes it's just not enough. Breeding means missed dinners/holidays. It means hours spent researching pedigrees to bring in things that will help improve the breed. It means testing & vetting, parents to make sure you're starting with the healtiest possible, & kittens so the new families hopefully won't have any issues. It means hours spent cuddling, cleaning, feeding, socializing & more cleaning. It means more tears than anyone should shed. It means not only carefully screening homes to find the best possible but taking back that baby, if the family ever has an issue & can't keep it. It means sometimes dealing with haters who do their best to destroy your life all because you breed. As to that $$ ... any REAL breeder will tell you a good year is one where you break even or ONLY lose a few hundred. IF you're doing things correctly, you can expect to operate at a loss, often a BIG one. So why would anyone do this. Because we truly ❤️ not just animals, but particularly our chosen We do it for the incredible people it brings into our lives, not just show friends but the families it brings into our "family". I've got families that have gotten from me thru the years who've become good friends & kids that grew up with a cat from me, now moving out/getting married & getting one so their families can be raised with an too. We do this because we have no choice, THIS is who we are with every cell of our being. Welcome little Buttercup, I'll love & watchover you, your whole life.

Here at Owhl, we pride ourselves in producing lovely, healthy, social kittens bred from top lines to breed standards. While my kittens are from award winning lines and have been some of the top winning kittens/cats of their breeds in the show ring for many years, my real pride comes from the wonderful companions and loved family pets they are.

I have been involved with Scottish Folds since 1984 and with Cornish since 2003. My life revolves around animals. I have worked as a dog trainer and currently own a mobile grooming business which specializes in cats. I have a small hobby farm, where my kittens, pups and chickens live a quiet peaceful life... I have shown in both CFA and TICA and have had top award winning cats in both organizations, for many many years, including National Winners, Regional Winners, Distinguished Merit winners, International Winners and Lifetime Achievement winners. Showing is a vital part of breeding and any REPUTABLE breeder will be doing so. Back yard breeders will always have an excuse as to why they don’t show, but the truth is... they don’t care about quality and it takes money which is all they’re into breeding for. If you’re looking for a well bred kitten/cat, you want one with Titled cats behind it.

I do my best to assure that your Owhl kitten will not only be a fine looking example of the breed, meeting standard, but is as healthy as possible. To this end, my cats are all health tested. They have been PKD screened, HCM tested... Are Felv/Fiv Neg. I’ve started Hip checking as well. All kittens leave fully vaccinated, dewormed and altered and with a written health guarantee. I take care of everything for my new families so all they have to do is love their new babies. Kittens stay until they are 15/16 weeks... meaning they are of an appropriate age to have been not only well socialized (kittens learn most of their social behavior... including litterpan behavior, between 8-12 weeks of age) but have as strong of an immunity as possible, which isn’t fully functioning til that age. While some people think getting a young kitten will help them bond, it really doesn’t and you risk both health and personality issues taking them too young.

While all these things are important... I realize what most families want is a loving baby that will be a good addition to their family. I only breed a couple of litters at a time and my moms aren’t even bred once a year as a whole. I only have a couple of litters at a time, so that the babies get lots of attention. They are handled daily, from birth and are raised with lots of love. They are used to playing with other kittens, dogs, mooching food and snuggling on the couch. I’m a groomer so they are bathed on a regular basis and nails are done weekly. I KNOW the personalities on my babies.. and I can help you find the kitten that will fit best into your family. I’m happy to provide references not only from my vets (regular, cardiologist, etc) but from my families as well.

I do keep a wait list.. and unlike so many of the Back yard breeders.. I don’t and never have required a deposit just for a chance at a baby. I’ve never understood why you would pay a deposit just for a “chance” at a kitten. I want a family that wants one of my babies because they understand the quality they’re getting, appreciate all the work I’ve put into them and have decided an Owhl kitten is what they want for their family...not because they’re “trapped” into it. Beware of breeders who demand money before babies are even born. There is no guarantee that a litter will have folds/straights...a particular s*x, how many will be born or that they will all make it. Things, sadly, can and do happen. I never take a deposit until you have chosen your kitten and I don’t allow that until the babies are a minimum of 7 weeks. If you’re waiting on a fold, it takes a month (NOT up to 8 weeks like some byb’s say) to know if a kitten will fold or not. By 7 weeks... I know not only ears, but more importantly Purrsonality. Lets face it... you want a baby that’s going to fit in with your family... one that suits your needs for energy, for attention needed, etc. Since I spend so much time with my kittens I can usually tell fairly quickly whether a kitten is confident, shy, in your face, playful, a snuggler... all those things that really matter. I also know quality, whether your possible new baby is pet quality, show, etc. I often sell show kittens as pets, some of the families choose to try their hands at it... and I’m happy to mentor them, some just want a quality kitten. Me... I just want loving homes for my little ones. I am here for the lifetime of your baby. Many of the families who get kittens from me become good friends.. coming back for a second, third or more kittens thru the years. I’ve done this so long, I now have children who grew up with an Owhl kitten now coming to me for babies for their own families.

I have spent my life, devoted to the breeds I love. I am on the breed committees for them, have been Breed Chair, and actually helped to write the breed standard for the Fold in Tica many many years ago. You’ll never hear me talk about how these are boutique or designer kitties.. these are loved living breathing babies. I have fought to preserve the breed, helping to get Straights accepted into TICA (I had the first Supreme Grand Champion Alter and Regional winning Alter... as well as the first Regional Winning Kitten) and to make sure that Back yard breeders won’t be able to legitimately use the breeds I love to create “designer” breeds. Beware of those who are mixing them with other breeds... they are not doing it for the love of the animal but to have something “new” they can charge a premium price for. NO legit organization accepts “breeds” like Kilts (munchkin x fold mix) or Puppy cats (Fold x munchin x pixbob) People doing these horrible breedings don’t care about the health of the kittens they’re producing and are lying when they say that there’s “no problems” Even experienced, reputable breeders who are doing everything “right” have the occasional kitten with OCD issues... and to think that you can combine structural mutations and NOT have issues is irresponsible and horrible for both the babies and the families that will pay the price.
