What’s That Wednesday – THE REVEAL! 🐾

Thanks for all your awesome guesses, everyone! 🙌 The mystery object was... a bladder stone from a cystotomy! 🏥

A cystotomy is a surgery we perform to remove bladder stones, which can form when minerals build up and create these hard little "nuggets." These stones can cause discomfort, difficulty urinating, and other issues for our furry friends. 🐕🐈

In this case, Dr. Smatt was able to safely remove the stone, and our patient is now on the road to recovery! 🙌

Signs Your Pet May Have Bladder Stones:
🚽Frequent urination or straining to urinate
🩸Blood in the urine (could be pink or red in color)
💧Urinating small amounts at a time
😣Painful or painful-looking urination (whining, squatting for a long time)
💦Urinary accidents or dribbling urine outside of the litter box or potty area
🐾Licking the ge***al area excessively
🍽️🤢Loss of appetite or vomiting (especially if the bladder is severely affected)
💤Signs of discomfort or restlessness

📞 If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s always best to reach out to us. Early detection and treatment can make a big difference in your pet's health!

Have any questions about bladder stones or cystotomies? Drop them below, and we’ll be happy to answer! 🐾

Thanks again for playing, and stay tuned for more fun posts! 😄

👇 Here are some options to get you started: 👇

1. A fossilized nugget from an ancient creature 🦖

2. The world’s tiniest stone circle 🏰

3. A stone from a cystotomy! 🐾

Did you know that only about 20% of orange cats are female? That makes our sweet Miisu part of an exclusive club! 🌸 Spring is Here – And So Are the Creepy Crawlies! 🦟🐜🐍

The weather may be warming up, but those chilly days are still sneaking in here and there! As the temperatures fluctuate, so do the pests—fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and even snakes are becoming more active. Make sure your pets are protected with year-round preventatives! ☀️🐶🐱 Whether it’s hiking, playing in the yard, or just soaking up the sunshine, we’re all ready for some fresh air! But guess who else is excited for spring? Fleas, ticks, and heartworm-carrying mosquitoes! 😱

Before you and your pet enjoy the great outdoors, make sure they’re protected! 🛡️ Here’s why:
🐜 Fleas = Itchy, scratchy misery (plus they can infest your home!)
🕷️ Ticks = Sneaky little hitchhikers that carry serious diseases
🦟 Heartworms = One tiny mosquito bite can cause a big problem

The good news? Prevention is easy! 🎉 A simple monthly chew, topical, or injection can keep your pet safe, happy, and ready for adventure.

Call us today to stock up on your pet’s flea, tick, and heartworm prevention – because spring fun should be all about wagging tails and happy purrs, not pesky parasites! 💕🐾

☀️ Why Do Cats Love Sunbathing? ☀️

Have you ever noticed your cat expertly locating the tiniest patch of sunlight and curling up right in the middle of it? 🌞🐱 It’s like they have a built-in solar panel!

Cats love soaking up the sun for a few reasons:

✨ Warmth is Life – Cats naturally have a higher body temperature, and sunbathing helps them stay toasty without using extra energy.

😴 Ultimate Nap Spot – Sun-warmed fur = peak cozy vibes. No wonder they spend so much time snoozing in sunbeams!

🌱 Wild Instincts – In the wild, conserving energy is key. Finding a warm spot lets them relax while staying ready to pounce (even if it's just on their next snack).

Next time you see your kitty basking in the sunlight, just know they’re living their best, warmest life. 💛 Where’s your cat’s favorite sunbathing spot? Drop a pic below! 📸🐾

🌷🐾 Spring Hazards for Pets: Keep Them Safe! 🐾🌷

Spring is here, and while we welcome the sunshine, blooming flowers, and outdoor adventures, it's important to be aware of potential hazards that can affect your furry friends! 🐶🐱

🚨 Top Spring Dangers for Pets:
🌿 Toxic Plants – Lilies, tulips, and daffodils can be poisonous if ingested!
🦟 Fleas, Ticks & Mosquitoes – Warmer weather means these pests are back! Protect your pet with vet-approved preventatives.
🌱 Lawn & Garden Chemicals – Fertilizers, pesticides, and mulch can be harmful if licked or eaten.
🐍 Wildlife Encounters – Snakes and other critters are more active in spring—keep an eye out on walks!
🚗 Allergies & Airborne Irritants – Just like humans, pets can suffer from pollen and seasonal allergies. Watch for sneezing, itching, or watery eyes!

🐾 Keep your pets safe this season! If you have any concerns or need flea/tick prevention, give us a call at 845-395-9200or stop by **The Pets I Love Veterinary Hospital! 🌿💚

⚠️ GRAPHIC WARNING: MEDICAL IMAGES BELOW ⚠️

🚨 Pyometra: A Silent but Deadly Threat 🚨

📸 Left: A normal, healthy uterus from a small breed dog.
📸 Right: A dangerously swollen uterus from a small breed dog suffering from pyometra—a life-threatening infection.

Pyometra is a severe infection that affects intact (unspayed) female dogs and cats, typically after a heat cycle. The uterus fills with pus, leading to severe illness, organ failure, and even death if left untreated.

⚠️ Signs of Pyometra:
✅ Lethargy
✅ Increased drinking & urination
✅ Loss of appetite
✅ Vomiting
✅ Distended abdomen
✅ Foul-smelling vaginal discharge (if open pyometra)

🚑 The good news? The brave pup from the right side of this photo underwent emergency surgery and is now on the road to recovery! 💕🎉 But not all pets are this lucky—pyometra can be fatal if not treated in time.

💡 The BEST way to prevent pyometra? Spay your pets! ✂️💗 Spaying not only eliminates the risk of this deadly infection but also prevents unwanted litters and reduces the chances of mammary cancer.

🔹 It is recommended to spay or neuter your pet once they are fully grown, but it can be done earlier in some cases. If you notice any concerning symptoms, call us immediately—early detection and treatment can save lives!

📞 Call The Pets I Love Veterinary Hospital today to schedule your pet’s spay or neuter. 🏥💙

🎉 Mission Complete! 🎉

After weeks of relentless (and very polite) harassment 😜, we finally caught our elusive mailman, Randal, for a photo with THE ONE AND ONLY Paddy O'Paws! 📬🐾

Big thanks to Randal for being a good sport and delivering more than just mail — he’s officially part of the Paddy O'Paws fan club! 👏

P.S. Randal, the next one’s on us. 😉 (Maybe a paw-some latte?)
