Good morning! I hope you all have managed to stay as warm as possible this week and everyone is safe and careful with any "wintery weather" we may or may not see today and tomorrow. While you are snuggled up and warm, we hope you will take the time to read the first edition of The Hoofbeat for 2025! We have a lot going on and even more in the works.

We are looking for this to be a great year and hope you will be on this journey with us!

We started Giving Tuesday hoping to raise $2000 for our Alzheimer's/Dementia program. As we get close in on the end of the day, we are still needing to raise the full amount.

I'm holding out hope will still meet this small goal! My Mamaw did not make it to participate in the program but the day I brought her out for pictures was one I will always treasure! It was the last reciprocated activity I had with her. I had her full attention for 45 minutes (her typical span at that point was 2-3 minutes.) She was peaceful, nurturing and happy. I loved every moment and can't wait to pay it forward to others' family members and see their faces light up too!

Today is the day we kick off the Christmas season with our live nativity walk through. At 2 pm today, we will have a narrator here at the ranch to take you on the "journey to Bethlehem and to the manger where Jesus was born." It's a magical way to begin this special time of year!

Well, it's the Monday before Thanksgiving and let's just be real. Many people are spending days to plan and prep a meal that they will have to eat for the next week because of all the leftovers and one most kids will gripe about. Even though parts of the holidays can be stressful (especially if you're hosting) at least we can take a moment to laugh about it and know we're not alone.

Hopefully, these will put a little smile on your face as you get prepped for the big day!

Horse bath=roll in the dirt We had a bet that in about 10 seconds she would mess up their hard work...see who was right. They had a good question. "If they're just going to roll around and get dirty again, why do we bathe them?" Well, we get dirty day after day. Sometimes you just want to shout from the rooftops! To know this young man, means that you know what a victory this video is. He has been with us for a couple of years now and he is officially riding by himself!! 🙌 There is not a cookie cutter program when it comes to people. Everyone has different objectives, different abilities, different timelines, etc. The one thing they all have in common is that our goal is to help them progress in whatever way THEY need and give them the tools to succeed. Of course, we are also there for each of them to cheer them on along the way and make a big deal of it when they reach these goals! We are more than proud of you buddy!! Keep working hard. A Dream Come True....

As a young girl, I always wanted a ranch....I never knew until four years ago that a dream such as this could also involve helping children and adults to have a hope for their future with the use of therapeutic equine activities and services. I have watched in the past few years children overcome fears, apprehensions, and disabilities to live more confidently and find happiness with the help of a four-legged animal who loved them unconditionally. I’ve seen veterans find strength again and the will to live by riding and realizing that they still can participate in something that once was considered an inability for them to do. People of all ages are affected by just the presence of an animal who I know in my heart was made to help us all. But most of all, I know the One who gave me this dream and who helped me to reach my goals in becoming certified as a riding instructor. It is only through Him that I’ve been given this opportunity to serve Him in a way I never dreamed possible as that young little girl. The Scripture I have leaned on so much through these past four years has been, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, Philippians 4:13.” I believe with all my heart that for each individual and family that comes to Bright Star Ranch, He is saying to them that He will be with them through this journey as well and give them and their children the strength they need to have a more abundant life. Never stop dreaming.....and never stop thanking all the ones around us who helped make this possible, too!
