Please keep your pets inside during this time! Remember, failure to provide adequate shelter for pets in inclement weather is punishable by law (Texas Penal Code 42.092).

Other important info about me: I’m a spunky girl and tend to brighten up every room I enter! I’m the adventurous type and would love to join you on any outings or trips you might be taking. I appear to get along well with people of all ages and other dogs, but I haven’t been tested with cats at this time.

Porch was found as a stray at Barbers Hill Animal Hospital in poor condition, with an injured leg. The kind staff at BHAH treated his injuries and as his condition improved, his personality began to shine! Porch was quickly both a BHAH and MBAS staff favorite. After almost 2 months of care he has found his forever home, where we know he will get the love and attention he deserves!

We will miss you, buddy 💚

A little over an hour left of our adoption event at Pet Supplies Plus - Baytown, TX! We've had two cat adoptions, but no dog adoptions yet 😔 There's still time to visit the new trailer and bring home a new pup!

A very happy 🦃 🥧 to those who celebrate! We wanted to share some of the things that we think our adoptable pets are most thankful for, if they were able to say so themselves😅

What are we thankful for? We know we say the same things every year, but that list never changes:

👏We are thankful for our adopters, who provide lifelong loving homes for pets who have been given away, left behind, and discarded
👏We are thankful for our volunteers, who selflessly help us provide care to homeless pets while asking nothing in return
👏We are thankful for our fosters, who graciously open their homes to pets that need extra TLC or to help us make space for incoming animals
👏We are thankful for our donors, who help immensely in providing the shelter with needed supplies as well as funding for veterinary care and other needs
👏We are thankful for our social media followers and sharers, who help increase shelter supporters and adoptions, as well as raise awareness for shelters and homeless pets as a whole

It truly takes a village, and we could not do it without you! We hope everyone has a safe and joyful holiday; MBAS will be closed for the weekend and will return to our regular schedule on Monday, December 2nd.

We want to give a big shout out to Collins and Kamry, two hardworking kids with a very generous goal: set up a lemonade stand and donate the proceeds to MBAS! They earned a whopping $222 and we are so grateful for their support 💚 Some of our very own Mont Belvieu Police Department officers even made sure to stop by for a refreshing drink during their patrols!

🌹Introducing Santa Rosa!🌹

Santa Rosa came to the shelter as a stray with a laundry list of medical issues: emaciation, ear infections, a skin infection, significant hair loss, and a high intestinal parasite load. When a microchip was found during her intake scan, we were hoping someone would be missing her and thankful that their girl was now safe, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Santa Rosa's owner was contacted, but no one responded or came to get her.

Through her microchip, we learned that Santa Rosa arrived at Garland Animal Services (near Dallas) in 2021 as a young pup. From there, she was pulled from their shelter by a local rescue group, from which she was adopted. How she ended up in Mont Belvieu 3 years later, in such poor condition, is a mystery that we will never solve. Unfortunately the rescue group did not have any history of Santa Rosa in their records and were unable to take her back into their care.

It has been a LONG process but Santa Rosa is finally healthy and ready to find her forever family! She is spayed, HW-, knows how to sit and stay, does well with other dogs and kids, and loves treats! If you have room in your life for this happy, energetic, warmhearted, tough-as-nails girl, please contact us to adopt 💚

Rupert came to the shelter severely matted and infested with fleas. He was scared, mostly kept to the back of his kennel and growled when new people approached. But thanks to the awesome staff at Dirty Paws, he's a totally different dog now! Rupert 2.0 is happy, energetic, loves meeting new people, and is ready to find a new family that will make sure he stays clean and groomed.

*TRANSFERRED TO RESCUE*
🏠🐕Long term shelter resident Flynn got a foster vacay last week, and had a great time with his foster family!🐕🏠 Getting a break from shelter life is beneficial to help animals destress and provides them with much needed exercise and socialization. We can also learn more about how these pets behave in a home environment, and can make better adoption matches with that info!

In his foster home, Flynn:
🐾Was house trained by day 3
🐾Learned to get down from furniture when told
🐾Started learning to shake
🐾Loved playing in the yard
🐾Did great on car rides and walks

At the shelter, Flynn:
🐾Loves playing with toys
🐾Is a star at adoption events
🐾Likes playing with other dogs
🐾Sits on command and is very treat motivated
