On a rainy night, nine years ago, a man came to the door of Cameron Animal Hospital with a tiny wet kitten in his hands. His local shelter had told him to “put it back in the gutter, where he found it”. Dr. Cameron refused to give up on him, and named him Lone Survivor. And against all odds, he survived.
When he met Lauren and Joe, and became Mac, he joined Little and Mika in teaching the world about special needs pets, and the joy and love that adopted animals can bring to your life. But most importantly, he found his family and the unconditional love that he deserved.
Last night, on another rainy evening, we lost Mac.
He had an outsized impact on the world for such a little guy. He changed millions of lives by demonstrating the importance of love, no matter what.

In Mac’s honor, Gecko (a blind kitten) and CatKitty (a boy with only 3 legs) with be coming to @cameronanimalhospital from @nycacc for care and to find equally special homes of their own. We will never forget the lessons that Mac taught us, and will never give up.

We are thrilled to announce that @cameronanimalhospital has officially founded a non-profit organization- Cameron Animal Rescue.
Since opening our doors in 1936, Cameron Animal Hospitalcameronanimalhospital has been known for helping people and animals in need, whether through directly rescuing and adopting out animals (more than 10,000!); helping local organizations provide veterinary care for those who have fallen on hard times; or providing millions of dollars in discounted veterinary care to local rescues and shelters.
As an official non-profit we will be able to continue -and expand- the rescue and community work that we do, in a more sustainable way. And we need your help to do it!

We had a very special arrival Thursday morning at @cameronanimalhospital … and new mama Luna could not be prouder to show off her 4 precious newborns. Mom and babies are all healthy and happy, and enjoying cuddle time.
Luna came to us two weeks ago when her owners could no longer care for her. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate, and we know her kittens will be too.

In several months Luna and her kittens will need to be spayed and neutered, vaccinated, fecal tested, and receive other basic health care to prepare them for adoption. Although these costs are more mundane than medical emergencies, they are still significant, and your help and donations make a huge difference. Introducing ….. Bully Joel!
This handsome boy came to Cameron Animal Hospital after being surrendered for unknown reasons to Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) - just one of 800 animals taken in during the month of June! He was overwhelmed and needed help, and thankfully we were able to offer him a safe place to land.
Billy Joel slept for most of the first two days after arriving, and since then we have been getting to know him-and each day there is more and more to love- all 92lb of him. Follow our adventures as we get to know this wonderful teddy bear and find him his forever home!
Thank you to the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) and their staff members for their incredible work and tireless advocacy for the countless lives in their care. We will take good care of this boy for you!
Floof! Whoever adopts this wonderful little girl really will have an everlasting love.
Found abandoned, Floof has wanted nothing more than love and affection from day one. Although she had a list of medical issues, including a badly injured knee, a severe ear infection, infected teeth, and a mammary mass, she hasn’t let that slow her down. She’s still a sweet, silly girl. She recently had surgery on her knee, and is recovering well, but she has a long road ahead.
Floof is wonderful with everyone she meets- people, dogs, and cats. Her only requirement is that she is not alone- and who can blame her after all she’s been through- but she is content to keep you company for hours while you work, and at 7lb she doesn’t take up much space. We will never know why she was abandoned, but we have promised her that everlasting love and we won’t let her down!

Dylan is the cutest, goofiest kitten out there, and that’s all there is to it. He loves everyone he meets, both two and four legged. This amazing boy can’t wait for a family of his own to love, cuddle, and play with him.

Valentina is a very special old lady. She came to @cameronanimalhospital from a bad situation, in such poor condition that she couldn’t walk. But after more than a year of medical treatment, physical therapy, and lots and lots of love, she not only walks, but runs, hops, and plays! She also has strong opinions, and doesn’t hesitate to meow them at you.
Valentina has severe arthritis from everything she went through, and will need life-long pain management. But she is ready for a home of her own where she can be treated like the princess she knows she is.
