Meet Quincy (tan) and Bianca (white), our two adorable smaller low riders! Rescued from an abandoned house where they were left in appalling conditions, these two amazingly sweet and loving dogs will be looking for their forever homes. We are not sure if they are related, but they do get along together though they do not need to be placed together.
Bianca is estimated to be about 3, and her little paws don't stop dancing when she comes out for her walks or just to be with you. She loves sitting for her treats, those little legs still dancing away from pure excitement at having attention given to her. Poor girl's skin was in rough condition but is improving. She's just under 40 lbs., is learning to walk well on leash and has the cutest strut!
Quincy is younger, probably under a year and also small at under 40 lbs. He is a major lover and for a youngster, he is one of the calmest dogs ever. He is is happy just to spend time with people, loves being handled, and will be a great companion.
Application found online www.pawsmontclair.org under the Pets and Adoption tab.
Little Maisie is doing great - her fur has grown back and she’s a beautiful, adorable, sweet and smart youngster. She’s available for adoption!

And we love our Kiki - she is one of a kind, a lovable character, with us for a long time. She adjusts to home life if someone would just give her a chance. She's always happy to see you, her tail is non stop, she loves treats and is beautiful too!
Otis is our senior citizen. He got lots of gifts and enjoyed every one of them. His legs are stiff, so we get out and just gently walk around. He loves his treats, and the game "find it" with treats lets him explore the yard or on our short walks outside the kennel property. He is great with the other dogs, and he loves being part of the "pack". His resiliency is admirable -- we love this guy.
Josie is a newer member of our PAWS family, and she walks beautifully, staying right by your side. She is hoping for a forever home as well...
Our PAWS kennel dogs had a great Christmas - we had stockings, presents, snacks, long walks and an all-around enjoyable Eve and Day! Thanks Joanna for joining us! Here is Starla... she makes the greatest noises while accepting treats! She is a wonderful dog!
What a difference a few days made for our new arrival, Josie! She had been a stray, pretty much frozen in fear and very shy. She sat glued to the back seat of my car as we made our way to the kennel, eyeing me the whole time which was certainly understandable.
Well, two days later and her personality is starting to come through, even sporting the annoying cone around her head (she had been spayed earlier in the week).
Thank you to Stephanie Pearl for advocating for animals like Josie who can only get a second chance through rescue and @Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge for providing the spay, vaccines, bloodwork, and meds. Now we will get to know Josie and find her a great home!
Josie is about 2 years of age, and a little over 50 lbs right now. She is being treated for a skin infection but otherwise in good health.

A heartfelt thank you to Tricia Alex Cifelli for taking Oni, whom we pulled from AHS Newark, into their expert foster care!
Oni had been surrendered to the shelter at 10 years old, and in a month's time had lost a lot of weight. The shelter vet diagnosed her with diabetes and began treatment, but Oni needed rescue and a medical foster to regulate her insulin dosing and slowly get weight back on her skeletal frame. She may look skinny here, but she is so much better since landing in her foster home. She is now in great hands, slowly gaining weight and getting her insulin levels checked and adjusted as needed under Tricia and Alex's watchful eyes.
Oni is a great girl and we look forward to seeing her progress.
Thanks again to Tricia and Alex, and to Sherri Powell Laraway for her tireless work to get rescue for the seemingly unending stream of dogs coming into the shelter.
Abigail and Otis put together again today just enjoying the beautiful weather! Both are looking for homes - Otis is a senior and Abigail is about 5. 🐾❤️
Today’s rain didn’t dampen the PAWS dogs’ spirits at the kennel— we had already taken everyone out for yard time/play (they all went out again later too) but Joanna made this video of each getting a treat while back in their runs for the time being… featuring Otis, Bingo, Lucy, Starla, Kiki and Abigail. These beautiful, amazing dogs are waiting patiently for their forever homes… please consider them!! We adore each one - but the kennel should be a temporary shelter and not long-term even though we are with them every day. We know there are so many dogs in need now, but we can’t help others until we find and place our babies into the right homes. ❤️🐾
You know that kid or adult at the party that pushes to the front to get the first piece of cake or whatever is happening up front? That’s our Kiki girl🤣 She’s really funny and loving. She has many talents besides taking treats🥰 she REALLY wants to find her home. She does chill out once home. She had been fostering with Courtney of @SmartPawsDogTraining in Montclair for several weeks until Courtney’s schedule became very hectic. Everyone adores Kiki -
We know her home is out there. ❤️
And here are the three girls taking their treats from Joanna! Lucy (black), Abigail (white spotted) and Starla (brindle/white), all looking for homes. 💕💕💕
Meet Abigail❤❤❤our newest rescue at PAWS!
We pulled her from a very full inner city pound where she sat, sad and quiet. She was very thin, her paws and hind quarters were raw, and when we took her out to meet her, she was sweet, calm, and very happy to leave.
Her demeanor has not changed in the two weeks she's been with us -- we are all amazed at her beautiful sweetness -- she is great with everyone -- all handlers, kennel staff -- she's an easy walker and never pulls on leash. She is loving all the attention and treats she so deserves, and thankfully is putting on some weight. She's relaxing more, she's bright and happy, and just a pleasure. At only a little over 40 lbs. she's a petite approx. 5-yr-old with a fleck of light blue in one eye!
Interested in adopting Abigail? Please submit an application online www.pawsmontclair.org (under the Pets and Adoption tab).
A big thank you to Stephanie and RBARI for spaying and vetting her for us!
Here she is with Connor, demonstrating her "sit" -- she knows "paw" as well!
Today our beautiful Starla had fun walking (and running) with Connor! Starla is another awesome dog waiting for a long time to find her forever home.
Kiki loves her walks with Connor and his dad Vance - please share for Kiki who waits and waits for her forever home 💕😥
Connor likes to walk with Kiki when he comes to help with his dad, and Kiki loves it more! Please share for our Kiki who has been patiently waiting for her forever home for a long time! She has so many great qualities!!❤️
Our daily walks are great, but what's more fun is when we all go together for the weekend "Sisters" walks. Lucy (black), Starla (brindle/white) and Kiki (black and white) love to go together. We stop for snacks, grass rolling, tummy scratches - whatever the day calls for. These beauties are STILL waiting for homes! www.pawsmontclair.org or contact us at [email protected].
Thank you to Joanna Gaebele for helping me with these walks!
