I am writing this post with a heavy heart. Our dear Champ has passed away. For the past 9 years, he has been changing lives here at Dare to Dream. He greeted everyone he met with loving and wise eyes, and kindly offered his dear muzzle for petting and kisses. Throughout our years together, if I asked, the answer was always yes. He came to us at the age of 21 with the name Champ, and we joked that he earned champion-status because of his notorious gassy t***s that always made us laugh, but it was really his Champion heart that was outstanding. How many times did my eyes fill with tears when I saw him do something extraordinarily kind? He was like an angel who somehow found his way to Dare to Dream. He always knew how to connect with anyone with a troubled heart, and watching him win them over with his gentle trust and respect was beyond touching. He was much loved here at Dare to Dream, and leaves behind countless sad hearts as he runs on up the trail ahead of us. I thank our dear Creator for entrusting
me with Champ these past 9 years. Rest in peace, sweet Champion Heart. Thank you for your years of service. You will be missed.

I wanted to thank everyone who supported Dare to Dream's fundraiser at Roots Market last weekend. We had a great time on a gorgeous day! Thank you Rachel and Andrew, for inviting us to set up in your cookout area. It was an honor to work with you!

HUGE thanks to Jeremiah Nestor for being our Pit Boss. We could not have done it without you. From planning, shopping, prepping the pork butts with your special spices and sauces, staying up all night to make sure they were smoked and slow cooked to perfection, to pulling the pork and then helping us get it all served - you went above and beyond! The result was pork barbecue that was so delicious we sold out in one day! Sorry to all the folks who didn't get to try our barbecue on Sunday because we were flat out!

Special thanks to Katherine and Matthew Nestor, Lisa and Zack Tuttle, Gil Lunsford, Ben Hindman, and Justin Anderson for all the help with set up, running around getting stuff, and serving everything up!

Also so proud of our Face Painting team: Marti and Charlie Anderson, and Lauren, Marley, and Rowen Hindman. You all were great!

Shout Out to T&K market for helping us with the pork butts. We appreciate you!

And thank you to everyone who came out and supported us! What a great day, and we were so happy to be a part of a truly great Hands and Harvest Event!

Dare to Dream had a “float” in the Fair parade. We had a blast despite pouring rain(we all got soaking wet!), our antique tractor conked out about 1 minute into the parade and we had to switch to being pulled by a truck, then we got rained on again! But we had a rainbow above us, and being soaked felt good after a day of 90+degrees. We laughed a lot! Love our Dare to Dream Family! shout out to Wesley Woods for navigating us safely through some challenging transport issues, Joe Delano, Justin Anderson, Gil Lunsford, Andrew Erbaugh, Katherine Nestor, and Ellen Delano for doing whatever needed to be done to make it happen.

Sweater season is around the corner. If you have some closet cleaning to do, (and who doesn’t?) please keep Little Big Dogs sweater drive in mind!

Thank you to our donors! This invoice is for July mostly. One day in June and one day in August. Please think of Little Big Dog when you go through your closets at summer’s end — we have our 25th Annual Sweater Sale in October and would love your gently used sweaters and outerwear. Women, men, children, dogs. Yes, dogs! — Dot Terry
