Little Hooves Miniature Horses

Many of you might remember Little Hooves Blue Baroque Pearl, our 2024 filly born with a leg problem, presenting with "club foot" and refusal to weight the leg. Unfortunately, her problem has not resolved, and it has steadily worsened. Her quad and hind quarter have atrophied. The vet was out today to do x-rays to determine what the issue is. We identified an underdeveloped and deformed stifle joint with an unrecognizable patella. Sadly, her prognosis is not good (there are no knee replacements for horses), and we are preparing ourselves to say goodbye to another filly. What we've faced in the last year with our minis, the heartbreak has been overwhelming.

We have some visitors at the farm! These two boys are sons of Pleasant Meadows Showtime. They're both looking for a new home.
The chestnut is a gelding and the buckskin is still a stallion. We're looking into what it might take to register them - just a lot of overdue paperwork.

We've got a rare snowy event going on in western Washington right now! They call it "lowland snow" since much of the snow is in higher elevations and lower elevations get rain. It's also a wet snow, which means wet ponies. Sunny wanted me to know she isn't excited about this weather with her "whatevs" face. But for the humans, it is a welcome wintery sight because we didn't get any snow last year!

Our 2024 Caspian c**t Cascadia Cinnabar headed to his new home today. Congrats to his owner, who is no stranger to Caspians! She couldn't wait to get this little guy, a naturally sweet fellow that will be a perfect companion gelding for her mare and a child's mount for her young family members.

Celeste traveled to Alaska earlier this year, but changed hands since then. This last week she has found her forever home! Thank you, Faith, for bringing this pretty girl "home for the holidays." It looks like you all had a very merry Christmas.

Little Hooves Farm (Cascadia Horses) has always supported equity, civil/human rights, preserving the environment, clean air and water, access and privacy for reproductive care, and affordable health care for everyone. These principles are why we established ourselves in Washington state in the Pacific Northwest, and have remained here. We are disappointed and saddened by the federal election results. Nevertheless, we are grateful Washingtonians stayed true to these humanitarian values. We are still processing what the results of the election might mean for our farm going forward, but we are resolved to helping those who feel more vulnerable in these uncertain times.

Last year we sold our stallions to make room for new bloodlines. Meet our new stallion prospect, Classic Storm, a 2024 c**t. He is a smokey black homozygous tobiano with two blue eyes! Looking forward to bringing him home in August.
