Let’s talk numbers…..

The number of animals that came into our facility in the month of June. This month, the sheer volume made us feel like we were living the past.

The number of spay and neuters that were performed in our very own building by our wonderful veterinarian and her amazing team since its conception. Despite the chaos, we celebrated this moment and were reminded of how far we’ve come.

The number of euthanasias prevented over the next few years because these services were offered. That’s not nothing. Prevention in the best cure.

We can’t adopt, foster or rescue transport our way out of euthanasia. There simply aren’t enough resources. The key is reducing the volume of animals being created that have absolutely nowhere else to go in our community. It doesn’t feel like we make a dent some days but when we look at the big picture, we can see that in the last two decades our intakes are less than half of what they once were and that is thanks to you. We are moving in the right direction.

How can you help?

Donate:

We put every dime to work to offer better care to the animals who have no other choice. If you’ve followed us for years you see we now treat diseases, have a fully operational clinic for these animals and employ some of our areas finest and most compassionate individuals. Our intervention program helps families in crisis and prevents new intakes. Our foster program has grown to be hundreds strong. That means we offer resources and supplies to hundreds of willing families every month. Every day, with your financial support, we get better.

Foster:

Once you’ve completed your application the process is easy. Walk through our doors on any of the 7 days a week we are open and we will point you in the direction of an animal in need. We only have so many kennels. Foster homes offer us the space and time to save lives. We wouldn’t have been able to keep our heads above water without them this last month. Historically, the numbers will rise in July, we need you.

Volunteer:

You won’t just brighten the day of our animals. You will inspire and uplift our team as well. Our volunteer community doesn’t miss a beat. Even in months like June. Their existence and participation make us better.

Adopt:

Every week we get dozens of applications and calls about the same dog or cat while others sit and wait with no interest. These same animals are the ones who also have inquiries from rescue groups. The ability to save them is well within our wheel house and their options are endless. Consider adopting one without unique marking or one that isn’t breed specific. These beautiful wonderful animals, who may not stand out, represent what 90% of our intakes look like. They need you.

We aren’t a stranger to full homes and tight wallets. Times are tough. Last week you guys shared some of our longtime residents like your life depended on it. Like they were a Yorkshire or a Siamese.
Thanks to you, today they are home. They are part of a completed family and that is always the goal.

June was hard. July will be harder. Thankfully, we have you.
