Snowball, RIP sweet girl. You were so loved. You were one of the most personable hens I’ve had in my 7 years of chicken keeping. She seemed fine last night when I shut the coop. She was in her nesting box that she claimed as her bed. But when I went to open the coop this morning she was already gone😢. Clearly died of natural causes during the night. She had a great chicken life here on our farm🌈🐔🤍

It’s officially summer! It has been so hot here in the south that it’s felt like summertime for a month already. I’m not gonna lie….it has been a struggle to keep the garden going during this heat🤬 I have put so much time and energy into it that I just can’t give up on all the veggies that I’ve nurtured for months and are finally reaching their harvest time. Let’s all do a little rain dance friends! 💃🕺🏻

Happy Sunday! We finally got some much needed rain last night! The garden is so happy this morning. As I was walking back from the bunny yard I saw this beautiful smiling sunflower bloom! The first of the season. It must be summer then right??🌻

Found this little cutie while walking to the cabin this afternoon. I almost stepped on it! I quickly picked it up and placed it down by the pond. Zoey was very curious! I let her sniff it and she walked with me to it’s safe spot.
This is one of the reasons I love where we live. I just love the daily interaction with nature….most of the time it’s heartwarming🥰 unless it’s a rat snake in the nesting boxes😫 Fingers crossed this little red eared slider can live safely here🐢

It’s a rainy Monday here…I spent some time this weekend getting the garden ready for the warm season of growing. For the first time in years I don’t have to work around the cool season crops that are still flourishing. The unusual stay of old man winter this year took care of that. Sad really as my winter garden is my fave! Not going to dwell on its loss but focus on changing the current view. Like this one that I’m sharing from last summer. Oh how I’m looking forward to this sight. The sea of green and blooming flowers! Isn’t it amazing what a few seeds & tubers can do to change a landscape?

I have dreaded making this post…honestly, we have had a rough couple weeks. Finally feeling up to sharing about our sweet Goose. It will be 2 weeks on Tuesday that we had to say goodbye. I never knew I could love a goat so much and their loss would be so heartbreaking. The staff and doctors took such amazing care of him! I cannot thank them enough! Goose was such a sweet boy who loved his humans so much. He gave kisses daily and just seemed to know when you needed a hug. He loved to sip my tea and was even published in in their capture contest. He was just special. We miss him, his siblings Maverick and Charley miss him as does the rest of his herd. He will live on forever in our hearts ♥️🐐

Well, today did not start out as planned…Pops went to the stable this morning to find Goose was down😢 Had to make an emergency run to Beard Navasota Vet Hospital] to get him checked out. Needless to say he had to stay for a procedure and observation. I know he’s in good hands! Beard Navasota Vet Hospital] is amazing! Poor sweet boy! He is the sweetest to his humans! His chaffhaye kisses are the best! If your the praying kind we would appreciate you lifting this guy up🙏🏻🐐
