💥GASTRODERMUS ELEGANS UPDATE💥 Our six little bundles of joy are now around 8 or 9 months old and are finally getting this party started with some spawning behavior! They're rocking great activity, fabulous coloration, and are total foodies - they chow down on everything we give them, but let's be real, tubifex is the real MVP. We're all about that garlic extract life and Vita Chem is their BFF. These little critters are also total wave riders - they love swimming in the wave maker's current! We're keeping our fingers crossed for a clutch in February, stay tuned! Next update: Late February

Gold Laser feeding after successful spawn today!!!
We currently have eleven Cw010 Gold Laser in a 20-gallon high tank on a temporary basis, awaiting the completion of their 40-gallon breeder tank. The fish appear to be roughly four to six months old. We expect to initiate spawning by early Spring 2025. The tank will undergo renovation, including the replacement of gravel substrate with pool filter sand, prior to the scheduled arrival of our breeding colony of eight Osteogaster Hephaestus in late January.
We are currently observing the breeding habits of two species of fish. The Orange Venezuelan, acquired from Wet Pets , has spawned twice, yielding a high hatch rate but also high mortality. We are attempting to determine the cause, which may be attributed to age or maturity.
The H. Panda, also obtained from WetPets Dothan , has yet to spawn. We suspect that age, maturity, and tank temperature may be contributing factors. To address this, we plan to relocate the H. Panda to a species-only tank and adjust the temperature to 74°f -75°f.
Our goal is to achieve successful spawns with low mortality rates for both species by early spring 2025.
Please note that the tank appears dirty due to the presence of Snello, a food source for our Mystery Snails.
GASTRODERMUS ELEGANS acquired from Wet Pets for our breeding program. Healthy, Active and Great coloration. We project having them spawn for us by Summer 2025.
